Why most fans are designed with three blades? Why, not two blades and a very few are with four blades? Please discuss.

Mitraa, I don't know the reason why different fans have different amounts of blades on them. I just walked into the room beside me to where I keep my fan and it has three blades on it. It would never have occurred to me to take note of blades on fans but now that you have mentioned it, I will probably check every fan in every establishment that I go into from now on, just to see how many blades are on them. I suppose I might have to wait until next summer as the weather is too cold to use fans now.

Great question. With two blades fan will not be in balance as that of three blades or four blades. For balancing and rotating the fan more energy will be consumed. If you use four blades then fan will become more weight. So once again you have to put more energy. With three blades energy consumption is less and you will get more air.

. Mine have three blades. Well, interesting question but I don't know the answer for this. Have a nice day mitraa.
