I just lost my cat. She was my baby for 18 yrs, I guess it´s only fair to say she was my best friend. She was sick for some time, she was diagnozed with kidney failure. She died in her sleep so it saved me from making that awful decicion but... It hurts. I know nothing lasts forever and it was her time to go. I just wish I could turn back time even for a little while. I know I´m not the only one who´s lost a loved pet, I guess I´m asking for your advise on how to get over the painful lost.

I'm sorry for your lost pet. I know how hard that is. I've lost a number of pets over the years, still miss each one too. It gets easier with time is all I can advise. Remember the funny kitten she was and the way she made you smile. Blessings, Tess.

I dont even want to imagine your pain, at night sometimes I think about when Zozo is gone... you got her for 18 years... write some memories about her down, make a scrapbook of her I recommend, ignore the fact that that makes you the crazy cat lady, and just feel free to reminisce and miss her... what was so awesome about her though? what made her truely special? why did you love her that much? :) so many peoples cats are unique and I want to hear about yours :)

I'm very sorry for you loss. I know what it's like to lose a dear pet that has been a part for many years. A little over a year ago I lost my 17 year old cat and I miss her so much still. I got her when she was 5 1/2 weeks old and she made it for 17 years. One day she stop eating and nothing me or my cat's vet did for her didn't work, she couldn't hold any food down and she got weak and couldn't hardly walk. My cats vet said when they get that old it's hard to do anything for them when they are that sick so I made a hard decision and had her put to sleep because it bothered me a lot to see her so sick and she couldn't hardly stand or walk without being in pain. What has help me a lot with the loss of my cat is that I waited a few month before deciding to get another cat. So two months after not having her around I found a free 6 week old Siamese male kitten that needed a home . Having a new addition to the family has help us a lot over the loss of our girl cat.

I'm so sorry. It's very unpleasantly for me. I know feeling the bereavement of a good friend. The animal is only able to love completely selflessly. And cats in particular... The deepest condolence. Regards, malawika.

I am so sorry that you have lost your cat. 18 years is a long time to spend with an animal, and they usually become much more than that. I know from past experience how hard it is to lose a pet, I have lost many in my lifetime. I am so glad to know that you did not have to make the decision to PTS, because that is awful, one always wonders if it was too soon, or too late. Your little girl took that decision out of your hands, and it sounds as though it was very peaceful for her. Once again I am sorry, I know how bad you are feeling, it always breaks my heart. One more thing, there are some extremely supportive pet loss sites on the net, perhaps they could help you.

Hi there: I am truly sorry for your loss; I really feel your pain! They are indeed our family members ( more sometimes), I cry a lot I grieve a lot! I've never had a pet to last me 18 years I really don't know quite what to say except how wonderful it must have been to have your pet for so long; Just know that they loved you too as much and take it one day at a time; I really am sorry!

Awe! I'm so sorry for your loss! I know how hard it is to lose a much loved pet. It sounds like she had a long wonderful life with you and that's something to be thankful for. The pain will subside with time, though the memories will always be there. I have my favorite picture of my childhood dog/best friend on the fridge. It brings a smile to my face every time I think of her. A friend of mine had a cat growing up that was really special to her and when he passed she painted a neat rock and placed it in a corner of the yard under a bush where he used to love to hide. Creating something similar in your kitty's memory may help you gain some closure. I hope you feel better soon!
