Does anyone know how to start your own website. How to get and and do it by yourself? How much does it cost, and how can you find out? I would like to start a site, but don't know anything about doing it. If anyone has any information that could help me out please let me know.

You might want to take a look at "Webspawner". You can set up webpages for free. Certainly very helpful for a start.

Get Your Domain Name. The first thing you need to do before anything else is to get yourself a domain name. A domain name is the name you want to give to your website. Choose a Web Host and Sign Up for an Account Designing your Web Pages Testing Your Website Collecting Credit Card Information, Making Money. keep posting take care and have fun..

Well Melvin, I am a web designer and developer. Starting your own website is a huge decision. And it also requires some planning and in some instances some money. How and why do you need a website. Ask these questions to yourself first. Do you really necessarily need it, and for what purpose will your website be. If you want to sell some products online, yes a website is obviously required. Also if you want to feature some stuff of your own like your art or photographs in a way that is different from just posting them on a free file upload service so that it has its own professional way of presenting your stuff. Yes you need a website for that. But if your requirements are basic and simple enough, generally I don't think you need one. Like most people, if they want to write something, they go and get a free blog account. They can write about anything post pictures, get comments, put links and almost about anything a basic website can do. Of course with this in mind there are limitations. The more advance features of a website requires you to know how to do it yourself or pay someone to do it for you. If you want, list down the things you want your site to do and I will give you a free evaluation of what you may need. Message the list to me so I can review it and give you my recommendation. cheers!

If you are looking to start a website for free then you can look at Bravenet. However, if you are looking to start a blog for free then I would suggest that you either look for Blogger or Wordpress. Both of these would offer good blogging platforms to those who do not wish to pay for hosting their blog. The only few issues with free hosting either for site or blog are that you would not have full control over your site or blog and you have to follow all the rules and regulations set by the hosting company. Therefore, if you have some money to spare, I would suggest that you buy your own domain and buy your own hosting and from there you can decide whether to build a site or a blog. At the same time, do search for tutorials on HTML as it is the basic language for building your site or blog if you are not yet familiar with it. All the best! Cheers!
