Do you like a fiction based on our world, or an imaginary world?

I know this is depending on personal preferences. I personally prefer fiction based on imaginary worlds such as LOTR, Harry Potter and other fantasy-based or sci fi-based fictions. But sometimes, I do feel that maybe it's good to have a fiction which is related to our everyday's life such as GHOST, Kite Runner, etc. What do you think? Which one do you prefer? I'm actually doing a little survey to see which kind of fiction is more interesting to people. :D

I prefer fiction based on imaginary worlds, i mean the real world is here, boring as ever, why would i what to read about the same thing i see on television? The based on imaginary worlds let's us see what kind of wicked, diabolical, completely senseless world each writer lives in. At least that is my personal opinion

What if it's the current physical world, but being invaded by superpower human or robots or aliens or dragons? :D A mixture of imaginary and real world.

Hmm, it's not impossible to tweak the background of the story to make it believable. :)

that would be interesting, very much so, but the chances of that happening are about as high as humans creating a flying pig just so that can say, look a flying pig(with wings)

Hmmm, depends on the fiction for me. With Mysteries, I like either Victorian, Jane Austen era (brain fart on the name), and modern times. Most of my fiction that I love to read is in the realm of fantasy, like you mentioned. Goodkind, Brooks, Lawhead, Jordan, Tolkein, etc. In addition, I thoroughly enjoy books that are thick, such as 500+ pages. Furthermore, with my fantasy novels, I love the stories to span over 3 or more books. The longer I get to stay in that particular world, the happier I am. I hate books that finish the story within 300 pages. I feel empty at the end.

Hmm guess you are quite a serious fantasy-based fans. :D I used to read Eddings and Raymond E Feist, and the Forgotten Realms books, but I've stopped. Not enough time to finish all those books! But yeah, I too prefer fantasy and imaginary based worlds. Don't really like those crime stories or war stories.

love fictions which is base on my world... not with mr. potter. well i think it's more challenging to the author to write something that is base on reality but totally fiction.
