Oh no, the fire alarm is going off

I was fixing lunch, which was a hot dog, I was pan frying it, then decided to add a little butter to the pan. Evidently the pan was real hot and the butter began to sizzle, after a minute the fire alarm went off. Within minutes the fire trucks were at my house. They were happy to know that it was a false alarm, but I felt bad that they had to come out for nothing.
I wish my husband would disconnect it, because we also have a fire alarm that is not hooked up to the fire department.
Have your alarm ever gone off and the fire or police department came to your house and it was a false alarm due to bad cooking?

Oh jeeze, that would be a bit embarrassing, it would be awkward to go through that. They should have alarms that call your home phone after they are alarmed, and then if you could get to the phone you could tell them what is going on, or if no one answers they can rush out like they did, instead of just acting on it, kind of like some of those home alarm systems- it seems like a good tactic. At my home we just have a simple fire alarm, not one that alerts the fire company, depending on who cooks in my house we would have some problems with that haha. Actually after the alarm went off, the alarm beeped and screamed, and we were told to wait for an operator, they would be on shortly. Next thing I know the fire trucks are pulling up

My fire alarms goes off all the time, thank goodness it is not connected to the fire department. Mines in laying over here beside me now with the battery hanging out. It goes off if the house is too hot. I need to hang it back up now that the weather has turned cool.

Yeah, they can become annoying if they are really sensitive.

I have a new neighbor that just moved in next door. I swear every time she cooks that fire alarm is going off. It is getting tot he point that I am blocking it out.. which might not be such a good idea one day!
