what is the use of USB ports in DVD players?

You must have noticed that now a days DVD players and LCD tvs come with USB ports..I wonder what is the use of that??? does anybody know ???

A 4 month old question with no replies, and I'm still gonna answer. Anyways most LCD TVs can actually play videos direct from a flash drive, provided it is divx or xvid encoded. I watch my animes that way so I know. Pictures can be viewed from a flash drive that way as well. I'm not sure about the DVD but it probably is the same thing.

Yes, its actually the same thing for DVDs.

Example if you have a music movies or picture in your flashdrive, you don't need to burn it just to play it in your DVD player, just plu the USB flashdrive and the player will detect it or play it automatically.
