Do advertisers really think we are all idiots? A short Rant

You know those commercials of which I am speaking. The ones where they show seemingly incompetent people trying to do simple tasks. One commercial that comes to mind is the one for the lids that fit anything using suction. It shows one woman trying to put a 12 inch lid on a 6 inch dish.
Another depicts someone trying to use a hammer and nail to put something up on a tile wall, thus cracking the tile.
Some of the movements of these actors are so exaggerated, its comical
Do the advertisers REALLY think that we are all incapable of making logical, reasonable choices. Do they all think that we are so incompetent that we can't possibly get through life without their products to make us feel capable?
Does this bug anyone else but me. How many of you fall for these commercials

I hate those commercials, too! Most commercials are stupid! Some of them are funny, though, and I don't mind laughing! But I still won't buy their products! Yes, get some more intelligent commercials, please! :)

Oh i know i hate all of those things yes they we are stupid now mine you there are some people will try thse things,so in answer to your rant yes there are some out there sad i no.

Unfortunately there are people like that polluting the world. If there weren't, the commercials would not exist. Just be glad you are not dumb to fall for the commercials. LOL

I know just how you feel. I think that yes, they do think we're that dumb because we act dumb by falling for commercials! We spend so much money on crap we don't need, why shouldn't they think we're stupid?

Yes, they really do insult our intelligence. That's why I try to avoid the commercials, either flipping through channels instead, or taping and fast-forwarding. Most of what I watch is online, so in that case I mute it and go to another screen until it's over. Commercials in general are just really stupid.

Answer to headline question:
Yes. Yes they do think that.
Does it bug me? I have a tendency to growl at the television set every time it's on because of those commercials.
Do I fall for them? No. When I do watch them I have a tendency to scrutinize and analyze them when I can stand it. And I log my observations in what I call the "desperation meter"...which only exists in my head, but...it tells me how much they NEED us to be that stupid.
...I know. Shush. It makes me feel better.
