Are you afraid that if something happens to McCain Palin will be the president?

That just terrifies me! Can you imagine President Sarah Palin representing you to the world? I have no confidence in her or her "abilities" and will be ashamed for her to represent me and my country to the world! What a bunch of idiots we will look like! Does anyone have an opinion on this?

I have no problem with Sarah Palin. She has as much experience as Obama and a cleaner record.

Experience and intelligence are way different! Besides, what national experience has she had? She didn't even know the responsibilities of the vice-president at first!

As of the Vice-Presidential Debate - Joe Biden didn't know the responsibilities of the office and he's been in politics for years.

I'm kind of right there with you. I mean she was on the Saturday Night Live show and yea I just wasn't all about it. McCain is trying way to hard with Sarah Palin, and he's trying to win over the women in this country, and honestly I dont' think that it is working. I mean honestly ok she did ok in Alaska, which i'm very happy for her about that, however, Alaska is nothing like the United States, i mean it's a fairly small place to run. I do think though that Hilary would have been wonderful in the position, because one of her experience, and two i've read many political books and each one has said that same thing, that Hilary backed her husband, before he would do anything he would consult his wife. So just from that I knew that she had the skills just needed the opportunity. Although i feel that it's very much about feminism that she did not get in, it's something that we have to work on. Great discussion.

"The women don't like her for the simple reason she is pretty and has her own opinion about some things. The women should be backing her with everything they have." WOW, I couldn't disagree more with both of those statements! I'm a woman and there are plenty of "pretty women" I like just find and I find it very hard to like or respect a woman who does NOT have her own opinions. Also, are you actually saying every woman in the U.S. should be backing Palin no matter what, even if they totally disagree with just about everything she stands for and feel genuine TERROR at the thought of her being President? I don't think so! Annie

There is no real skill needed to be president unless it is to sit in the oval office and keep your mouth shut until someone tells you what to say. The president isn't even allowed to make a speech unless it is written for him and he is coached on it. Do you think Bush was the one to make the decision to invade Iraq? No way. Bush only relayed the desires of others to the public. Sarah Palin just might be the one to change that. She knows how to get the people behind her. The people united and backing the president is the one thing people in government fears. I think the men would back Sarah Palin for the simple reason she is one tough lady and she is very intelligent. The women don't like her for the simple reason she is pretty and has her own opinion about some things. The women should be backing her with everything they have.

This has been on my mind since he chose her as his running mate. We already look pretty bad to the rest of the world and desperately need someone who will start to undo all the damage that's been done these past 8 years. I don't think McCain will do that but if something were to happen to him and Palin becomes President we'd be in BIG trouble! Annie

Not really. The world is coming to an end soon just as God as prophecied and we should be more worried about saving souls. I think I have to choose the lesser of two evils at this point and I go for McCain and Palin.

Out of curiosity, in what way do you see McCain and Palin as the "lesser of two evils"? Or, to be more specific, in what ways are you implying Obama and Biden are "evil" or "more evil"? Annie

What I mean by my "evil" reference is that they both have their faults and their skeletons! I don't think we'll ever have a "perfect" candidate!

Thanks for that clarification, baileycows. It's just that the word "evil" gets thrown around so much these days and in all honesty I've never been one to feel comfortable calling anyone who has made it to the point of running for the top two positions in the world "evil". I understand it's just a figure of speech but I guess that since Bush invoked the "Axis of Evil", which I certainly agree is perfectly suited for someone like Osama Bin Laden and others like him as well as some world leaders past and present, I've kind of felt like seeming to compare a Presidential or Vice Presidential candidate isn't right. I certainly agree that we'll never EVER find a perfect candidate! Annie

I may be wrong, I usually am, but the way I see it Palin could wind up the only hope this Nation has. Anyone that is president is very limited in what they can actually do but Palin is the only one of the 4 that has enough back bone to get Washington stirred up. She just might clean out Washington like she did the Alaskan state government. If you will look at her record as Governor of Alaska she was for the people. That's what this country needs. If I were you I wouldn't be concerned about it though because she doesn't have a chance of becoming the Vice President. This will be a rerun of the Bush election in 2000. It has already been decided who the next President will be and all I can say is God help us.

Sarah Palin is a dingbat. It would be an embarrassment to our country for her to be president.

I sure feel better about having Sarah Palin than having Joe Biden, who doesn't even know what the Vice-President does or the responsibilities that he has! I'd say that America will look more like a "bunch of idiots" if they elect Obama!

I'D say we've looked like a bunch of idiots these past eight years with Bush and Co. and if we vote to more or less continue his failed policies with a very few small changes that will seal the deal. Annie

A vote for McCain IS NOT a vote for continued Bush policies - contrary to what Barak Obama would like for you to think.

lol personally I think its a good insurance for Mccain if he gets in there, you can almost guarentee noone will try to assassinate him...Personally though, Out of all 4 who are in the running (thats including the VP running) I would prefer her out of all 4, she holds a lot of the same Values and morals I do, and parts of Alaska have prospered under her, and I think that America will prosper under a true born again Christain who has a personal relationship with God, so I'm all for her :D

I heard a very interesting opinion on this subject just the other day actually. I was getting gum surgery, and my dentist was talking to the assistant, and her assistant asked if Sarah Palin could run the country and...well...the conversation went something like this: "Do you think Sarah Palin could be president?" "Yes, I do." "Why is that?" "I think anyone can run the country." "How can you say that!?" "Look, people act like the president stands alone and makes all the decisions and steers the country wherever he wants it to go. That's not true. The president is surrounded by people, and I bet you anything it is those other people who end up making most of the decisions. Sarah Palin has run a state with less help than she would have if she were going to be president." I thought this was a very interesting point of view. I don't think many people consider how little power the president actually has and how little he does on his own. I am not scared of Palin being the president. I am more scared of Obama being president, because he THINKS he knows what he is doing.
