Are you afraid of promises and expectations?

I have been much into fairy tales when I was younger and so I believed too much on happy endings and expected that every relationship must be the same having "and they lived happily ever after". But having a broken heart because of too much expectations and too much belief in promises broke what I've always believed in.
Now, I don't believe in those.
And now, when someone tries to prove to me that expectations are okay and promises can be true.. I feel afraid of them. I don't want to be so innocent about those things again.
Have you felt the same way?

Well, sometimes in life you have to have your Broken Promises and expectations just to show you not all Good things will happen in your life no matter who you are. I know for me, many times I was shattered from old boyfriends and such, and actually at one point was ready to give up as well. But since I am a Christian believer I also knew God had something better for me, and the day I met my husband, I knew I was going to meet someone, and I knew he was the one.
Sometimes all we gotta do is learn to pick ourselves up, believe in greater things to come, and not be afraid to reach out and grab it. I know sometimes you have to face a lot of Bad times before something better comes along, but when it happens all you have to do is look back and know it was worth everything else you had to face in life as well.

Very well said, I am going through difficult times as well. It is not bad to have promises and expectations but to understand that not all of them you will get or be able to keep. The failures are as much part of life as are the successes. It is what you do after a failure that counts.
