Is it fear or wake up call?

...Each day is fresh and new, even when I am bitte - Life is full of hurdles. Fear only enhances the bitterness. I would like to take it as fresh and challenging.

Are you fearful of the crises or they are like wake up calls which make you fight harder? I used to be scared of life's bitter proceedings but not anymore. Now, I try to move forward in whatever way my means allow me to. Like you hear from you on this. Thanks. Be fearful when others are greedy, and be greedy when others are fearful. Warren Buffet.

In my younger days I led a shelterd life well protected and cocooned. But when I was able to be on my own,at first I tried to shy away from difficulties..But slowly with maturity I have learned to face things bravely and not run away.....And this attitude has helped and made me a stronger person and now I am in a postition to think calmly and work out solutions come what may.......I feel if we are determined and head strong, nothing and no one can deter us from moving on ahead in life......

i would say that after having been through a lot of hardships i have become tougher and see every obstacle as an avenue for me to learn more. it's life and that's how it works.. we have been hearing a lot about the crises, and we know that this is really happening a lot of people are panicking but instead of doing the same let's face the challenges and do better. this is not about what the country can for us but what we can for it instead.. right?

austere Couldn't have agreed more. You have explained it so well! Life's crises have made me alert and stronger and they are more of wake up calls now. Things were different thought. I was fearful of the crises. Thanks.

That's so well said,I really appreciate. The conviction and faith get us going and we must have in our selves. Major part of the battle is won thus. Happy living.

yeah, that just means keep the faith and do what is right for you and for the majority. LIfe is just easy, we have to do what makes us happy, do what makes us feel better, and in the process make sure that we dont make other people unhappy. Work hard to give your self the kind of life you desire and learn from the experiences in the past. Crises will always be crises, as long as the crises is not within our selves, then it can be handles!:)

Crises are always fearful till we experience something in our lives that makes us aware of the uncertainaties and serves as a wake up call provided the fear dows not get the better of us. In my personal experience and in my views fear drives one to the extremes and you loose the ability to think clearly and make the right decisions. I would like to think that i have seen and experienced the bottom and have got myself to become stronger and tougher. It's got to be a positive attitude and forward movement from here on. On this journey there will be pitfalls and crises, but being fearful of them will result in inaction and be detrimental. But going beyond the things which directly affect me ,the wake up calls which i have experienced and continue to do so go beyond my own personal experiences to those which affect the life of people around me.There are disaster natural and made, health issues, envoirnmental issues, ills of society.... . There has to be an effort and contribution from me in this regard. And Warren Buffet is so right when he says be fearful when others are greedy. The recent effect of the stock market and how people have lost money due thier greed is an example. But the latter part of his words need caution and can only extend to certain things in life, like trying to make wise decisions in speculatory efforts.

This is so well said, as always. We are but fears. we fear the storm, we fear the bleakness, we fear the consequences of our wrong doings, we fear how people will take us, how they will tag us with. We even fear the consequences of happy times!! Just imagine that poor creature who fears that life would bring in something bad for him after the good spell he is enjoying! And this poor creature is in each of us. Life should be faced differently. Why do we have to fear when we know we are not wrong? I have always tried to live by my values and my conviction and I am much happier now. Downs, hurts, sadness will be there but how we face it makes a whole deal of difference. I am an optimist and live life positively. I try to figure out the silver lining and live by it. Alok, you are a brave heart as well. Knowing you has been so much of a help. I do wish that we all continue to live life more positively. And as Warren B has said, being happily enthusiastic (greedy) instead of being fearful helps us in tough times. Thanks.

Yes, Mimpi Fear is something which drives us to make a mountain out of a mole hill. There will be events in our lives which will shake us:-We need to treat them as wake up calls, as lessons, and use this experience for our betterment and the betterment of people around us, There are events which happen around us : We need to evaluate these and use the lessons learnt and experienced by others to get ourselves better prepared of correct ourselves. If our values and convictions are strong then we should not be fearful for these will prevail. The fear of facing our actions, our pains will inevitably result in a crises. Happiness and fear cannot co exist and to be truly happy we need to get the fear out of the way. The fear of people : -if you remember the discussion on evaluating our fears, we realise that how wisplaced our fears are. We fear to express our true feelings and so soften miss out or loose the things which can mean a lot to us. Happily enthusiastic is the way to be and lets get the best of it.

I used to be fearful too mimpi but over time we develop a much thicker skin. Call it wisdom I guess but personally I think it more comes down to the base realization that we will make it through it because we have proven this before. We just don't consciously realize it at the exact time! The saying that whatever doesn't kill us will only make us stronger is very, very true. There are times in life when we think our world will come crashing down around us; yet weeks or even days after having these feelings we suddenly find ourselves looking back on it and wondering what all the fuss was about! It's the cycle of life. The most positive thing about all of this though is that we learn to appreciate the highs in life so much more thanks to these lows. (If the "crises" and Warren Buffet references mean that you were relating to the global economic problems I apologise for going off on this tangent)

James So well said. Life is but a cycle of highs and lows and also do-not-want-to-live kind of phases. We all survive those and become stronger and alert. Fear is an undefined, vague thing. Now, I have learned to smile it off.

I think there is no need of feeling scary for those developments in which we can do little. Some deveopments related to economy and natural disasters etc. are not in our hands, so we should not worry too much about those. I do not think on those lines - I believe 'What has to happen, will happen' and we should remain prepared for the wrost, while hoping for the best.

Hi Mim, Everything that is happening around us is a wake up call, to be alert and aware of what is happening all around and within our own financial and spiritual world. There has been far too much greed and corruption bringing us to our knees. Each and everyone of us has a resposibility to wake up and start doing something about it. We have the power as individuals to make a positive difference in the world we live in. Too often we just step back and complain about it because we want someone else to take responsibility. We have to step forward and think hard about how we can make a difference. As individuals and in combination of groups etc. we have the power to change what is happening in every aspect of our lives. It's time to wake up and start this new journey for the sake of us all. leenie

Hi leenie In some other discussion I was talking about the same. The wake up call regarding issues like global warming, conservation or social reform must be taken in the right spirit and we must not wait to see the devastation happening. We must take the cudgels in our own hands and do something positive. The responsibility is ours as well. No way we can pass it on. Fear only makes us more crippled and we must change our attitude towards life. Thanks for enriching this post, as always.

Crisis are created by us.If you are careful you can always have a control over them and let them not disturb our sleep. The cause for any crisis is greed, hastiness and false pride. If you know and admit your limitations you will be peaceful always, at least almost.

Hi dear sure all problems and difficulties u face in life are testing ur abilties and powerrs and sucessful are those person who workhard to go forward and combat it ( winning or not winning is seperate issue) while disappointment is really a sin and is killing too but here i wont deny that current uncertain situation is really confusing as its not natural, its artificially created by cartel of few people who are playing with world econony. and it must co relate to saying of Warrem Buffet But to me, either world is fearful or u r fearful , there should be certain rules , guides and ethics which must be kept and followed. amd sure u r brave girl, never get disapointed and find a way to get to ur goals Take care

Certainly its a scary state but I am sure it would recover. Might take some time, many be years but we never be fearful. Just a little bit of wisdom helps. Thanks.

I dont get afraid of crisis since i was use to it already. It is a wake up call to everyone of us that we need to start saving and not be wasteful of the things we have. Sometimes when people have everything they needed they tend to ignore things and waste it. Keep on buying unnecessary things and splurge on luxurious items. Then when they run out of money thats the time they realized how important money is. That they should have save it so at times when they are in financial crisis they have some savings left that will help them solve there problem.

There is nothing to fear if you have no fixed ideas about what life has to offer you. Life is beautiful. It has its ups and downs but on the whole it is fun. some people who try to spread fear and terror are enemies of life. They do not value or respect life. They deserve no mercy if caught in such acts.

Hi! Well said. While we should be alert but by being fearful we would only spread terror among people. Indeed we should take charge of our lives in positive way. Thanks.

I am trying to think of one of hubby's favorite books. I think it is called something like "A Whap on the Side of the Head." Anyway it is about how sometimes it takes something bad to happen to make us change to a better direction. It is about how when everything is going OK we can get in a rut and not grow and improve, but a crisis sometimes gives us that little nudge in the right direction. So instead of getting mad we try to ask "What can we learn from this?"
