Building a simple wardrobe

So, I went shopping this weekend in search for ideas for a simple wardrobe. My wardrobe now is simple and relaxed but not what I need for my business and day to day life. I need casual business attire, slacks and collared shirts I prefer. I've never been able to wear a button up shirt that was comfortable but I finally found one that is. I bought a pair of Lane Bryant black slacks at a discount store for $10 and a dark teal button up collard shirt from Walmart for $15. I like this style but need something to dress it up. I'm 22 years old and don't want to look older than I am and I'm not huge into jewelry but will wear a little occasionally. Any tips on how to dress this outfit up? What's the rules with wearing a belt over a shirt like this on my waist? I'm a plus size woman and don't want to over do it if you know what I mean.

I would try some vests. They blend in well with skirts and pants. Dark hose might help also. you may consider some hair clips and clamps that are more dressy to blend in with your jewelry and your clothing.I also would wear scarfs and hats if allowed. here is a tip site http://www.ehow.com/how_2174947_dressup-daytime-outfit-women.html
Step4Swap your day bag, which most women fit EVERYTHING into, for a smaller clutch at night. The big bag is very functional for the day, but it's also frumpy and heavy looking. Whether you are headed out for dinner, to a show or for drinks with your friends at night, you won't need much more than some cash, cards, touch-up makeup and your phone. You will look more elegant with a smaller bag, it will dress up your outfit and believe me, you DON'T need the big bag!
