By the time my daugher returns home from school i got a phone call from the school that my daugher was left in the school itself and the van had gone without taking her. I was shocked to hear this. How come the driver could have done this. Its his responsibility to see that the children are brought back safe from school. She was stopped by the gatekeeper as she was trying to venture out of the school to see if her van was outside. The school authorities were courteous enough to appoint a teacher until someone came to pick her up. I plan to cofront the driver of the van on this issue even though the school has promised action on the issue. What are you likely to do in such a situation?

It is better to guide your kids that whenever school is over, better to reach near your school van instead of spending time in playing or something else. However, school authorities are equally responsible for ensuring that kids going through school van have timely boarded in van. Better to have the contact number of van driver to avoid such incidence in future.

i do have a contact number of the person who is incharge of managing all the vans. I questioned my child and she told me that her teacher was checking her copy and by the time she reached the van's parking lot it was not there. I have advised her to go to the principals office incase this happens again and imform him about the incident.

I think it would really all depend on the school's dismissal policies. At my child's school, it is the responsibility of the teacher to make sure the students get in line for the school bus. After that, the bus driver would assume that all the children are accounted for. Sometimes a child will go home early with a parent or stay late for extra-curricular activities and the bus driver has no way to keep track of all of these situations. But your school may have completely different policies. Maybe it's time that they looked into new policies. You may be the one to bring about some changes. Good luck! I hope your daughter is doing well after this incident.

Yes my child is doing well after this incident. You are very right that the matter needs to be taken up with the school authorities. Thanks for your response.
