I'm thinking about starting a photography business and would like some help knowing what I should do.

Get some training in the business side of photography. Betterphoto.com is a useful place to go. So is the NYI of Photography. Invest some time and money in preparation. When you know what area of photography you want to pursue, have a careful look at the way successful photo businesses of that kind operate; try to work in one for a while and learn the business well while you make some contacts.
