Wow, that was an eye opener and a scarey one. This election has been going on forever it seems like. People have had a lot of opporunity to get to know the candidates and still some people are absolutely clueless when they make the decision. These people watch a couple of minuates of news, see who is ahead or the "star" and say ok I am going to vote for that person and have no idea who or what they are actually voting for. I think it is irresponsible. But unforunately there is nothing we can do about it.
That is scary. Voting for someone and not even knowing what they stand for. Thanks for sharing this. But it does not make me sleep any better at night.

This is shocking but so are the polls that show people do not know who the Vice President is or who the Speaker of the House is either. Maybe we need to spend more time in school learning about this country and forget as one lady reported reading 15 pages about Senator Obama in a History book or learning the importance of Molly Pritcher to the Revolutionary War. We spend so much time being Politically Correct that the truth goes out the window. My own daughter tried to convince me that Communism was the way to go and that she saw nothing wrong with it. Many discussions later and having to get a sales job she learned that it was not such a great system.
It is becoming clear that the media is only telling us the news they want us to hear and they are even trying to shape our thinking. People need to do more research and thinking. There are even days when I think we should have the right to vote only if you pay taxes to support the level of government you are voting for.

It is sad that these people are so misinformed, however, that is just a handful of people. Just like those crazy people at the McCain/Palin rallies were just a handful of people. We cannot judge every voter, be it Democratic or Republican, on a few crazy or misinformed people. At least I'm hoping that most Americans are responsible enough to listen to both men, hear what they have to say and make a rational judgment based on the facts.
I have watched the debates. I have listened to not only the men who are running for President but their running mates as well. I am voting for Obama not because of his race but because I agree with him on most everything, especially the stem cell research. I am also voting Democrat because when looking at the possible VP's, which any responsible voter will do since we never know what will happen in the future, I think that Biden is more competent than Palin.
Which brings me around to a lot of male voters who seem to want to vote for McCain simply because they think that Sarah Palin is "hot". I don't see it, however, to each their own opinion. However, I don't judge someone by their looks. I judge them for what's between their ears.
You brought up a good point though. There are, and again I stress Hopefully a few, voters who will vote for a candidate for some silly reason such as race, looks or whatever. I have to believe that there are many more responsible voters than these or else the future looks pretty dismal. However, Bush got voted in for a second term so I guess anything is possible.

part of the blame can be placedon our school systems. It seems that they are more concerned with teaching them to get along and developing their self esteam rather than teaching them the basics. I see young children learning conflict management but don't know the basic math facts. It is very interesting to see that our leaders do not even know what is in the Consititution. It even seems that a Movie star can convince more voters than fact based news stories. I was glad to see the ratings for the Debates were up but I still think many people will still decide to vote based upon theie emotions than on the facts.

Its just so important to research canidates. This makes you wonder how many people have actualy checked into who any of these canidates are? Theres something to be said for responsible voting!
