Where does the word "OK" came from?

today we're always using the word 'OK' to signify that we affirm or we agree to what the other people is talking about, we even unconsciously used it as an expression. but i really wonder where did that word originated and what does it stands for?do you have any idea guys?

The word OK came about in early telegraph days. It was simply a short cut that saved a lot of code sending. There have been others added since then. WX means Weather. A lot of Ham Radio operators still use code and several of these short cut terms.
