How can we prevent street accidents? By following traffic rules right? What is the use of foot bridges, over pass, underpass if not being used. How about you do you walk up the long stairs just to pass the busy street? Or you pass directly through the streets and play with cars who pass so fast?

passing the street happens most of the time in pinas especially if you're really late for work or simply you're just to lazy to use the overpass or underpass. that's why a lot of accidents happen. it's the people's fault for being hardheaded...not the drivers

True, there are a lot people who don't practice proper way of crossing the street. That's why accidents happen. But drivers too should be very alert so as to be able to pull in a complete stop if somebody will just appear right in front of his car. Because no matter what the driver would say, if the person will have injury the driver is still liable for what happen. So might as well, all people, whether driver or commuters will really find their way to be safe all the time.

yeah i agree that both party should be careful but to be honest, it's not the driver's fault if he hit someone especially if it's no-crossing road. people should learn how to cross the street in the right way.

I do use footbridges if there is available but if there is none, then I will flag a jeep. I rather spent 8.50 than risk my life crossing busy street. Happy mylotting!!

Hi meticulo! I always used the underpass / overpass when passing a street whenever there is one. The problem I see is not all major street are equip with this kind of pedestrian tools. Most of the time you really have to cross the street on your might and ability to evade the passing car. So I think we should be extra careful in crossing the street. Always remember the golden rule of looking to your left and right before crossing the street. Most street accident involving pedestrian could be blame to lack of discipline, where people chose to cross the street the short and easy way than using the overpass / underpass or even the appropriate pedestrian lane.

Yes that's right, not all streets have overpass and underpass. So you really need to walk a distance to be able to have a safer way to cross the street or the least is to wait for the traffic light to turn red for the vehicles to stop and then it's time to cross. One should be very careful and alert because sometimes too even if you are already on the pedestrian lanes, some drivers are careless. So that whether we are driving or crossing the streets, we should all be careful.

Hi there meticulo! I am a law-abiding citizen. I have never been caught jaywalking and I would never be caught doing such. I always use the pedestrian lane. If required, I would use foot bridges and the overpass. In some cases, the underpass. I too am a driver and I find it annoying when people just cross the street even if the green light is on. It is risky crossing the streets with all those vehicles passing by.

I really admire those people who take time to climb up and go down the stairs of overpass and underpass. Though it takes a lot of their time, they do it for their safety and security. You're right it's annoying to see people who cross the street where in there are a lot of cars passing by. And if they will be hit or side swipe, they blame the drivers for driving recklessly. I guess it's not a good idea to experience accident before they will eventually learn to follow rules.

Me too, am so afraid in crossing streets! But I guess it's worth the effort of using overpass and underpass if your safety is being considered. Just wake up early so that you will not be late.

that depends on your mind set and your attitude. if you are a conscious minded person specially on safety then you should be using the those structures provided because it has a purpose why it has to be there. don't gamble your single life with, "i thought" and "what if", this often times leads into something not good. then your attitude should comes next. no matter what and how sophisticated all those safety gadgets around you but if you attitude is to violate and like to do the short way then everything is just useless. and you won't be able to appreciate it's existence until something would happen. just like the phrase that i always use.. "if you think safety is expensive... try injury.!!"

I always use the overpass, footbridge and underpass. It's the proper way to cross the street unless there's a pedestrian lane crossing.

hi meticulo. i usually use foot bridges and overpass. its safer. BUT usually foot bridges and overpasses have little if none lights. so usually at night, pedestrians are afraid to use it because there might be hold uppers. maybe authorities will do something to put some lights so people can use it even at night. take care

Well I for one don't really pass the street that much I am scared of crossing the street especially when I am alone. I don't know how to cross a street. No one ever taught me how. I only pass the street when I am with my friends and we are going out. We always use the long stairs cause it is more safe for us. Its better to be safe then try a simple path and die.
