I just read this information on the fbi.gov web site. Be cautious of any fisching scams. You can go to the web site to read the full article. 10/16/08—A spam e-mail claiming to be from FBI Deputy Director John S. Pistole is currently being circulated. This attempt to defraud is the typical e-mail scam using the name and reputation of an FBI official to create an air of authenticity. As with many scams, the e-mail advises the recipient that they are the beneficiary of a large sum of money which they will be permitted to access once fees are paid and personal banking information is provided. The appearance of the e-mail leads the reader to believe that it is from FBI Deputy Director John S. Pistole. This e-mail is a hoax. Do not respond. I wonder who actually falls for these scams like this???

I do get these mails daily. But I won't read those mails and I will simply delete it if I found that I was winner for so and so money. Even if it was billgates personal mail, then I will simply delete it as it must be a scam. I never respond to any of these scam mails. Thank you for starting a good discussion. Happy myLotting.

It still makes me wonder how many people do fall for these scams. Is it people like my mother who are niave about the internet, or is it younger people? I wonder about these things, and hope that people will quit falling for the email scams so that these people who are doing the scams will move on and get a real job! Thanks for your response, and have a great day!

i ever saw one scam email using the name of UN secretary-general Ban Ki-Moon. haha, as if he's my penpal. imo, there's no need to bother about emails using such people's name if you don't have any dealings or relationship with such people.

You're right. I think if the FBI was going to contact you, they would just show up at your door. LOL Thanks for your response and have a great day!

Those e-mails are very common but I first got that e-mail I was really curious and almost believed it. I even replied and the guy sent me a lot "documents" about me being an "offkin" but as soon as he asked for money (well of course I didn't send him any) I just kept the guy's e-mail. In case I saw this person on TV or something. These people are really sick.

I could just see some older person like my mom or someone else falling for something like this. I hope not too many people have. But then again, somebody must be falling for it or they wouldn't keep doing it. Thanks for your response, I hope you have a great evening!
