I have noticed that some guys don't even bother giving away their sit for a elderly person or a woman. I noticed that some are even pretending to sleep. I personally couldn't let a elderly person or even a woman stand while I am sitiing comfortable. What do you think?

Before, I am the one who is given a seat, sometimes, if there is a "gentleman" who would offer his sit. And now it became more often because I am pregnant just like yesterday. But the one who offered the sit was a woman not a guy! There are a lot of guys sitting, shame on them! When I was still not pregnant I offer my seat to the elder ones, I am young and strong. I hope there are lot of guys still like you. Today it seems that guys are no longer gentlemen.

Thanks for the response. There are still gentleman out there. The guy should have given you the set instead of the women. I am guessing that he was acting as sleep.

I always do... it's just proper for us to give due respect to elders, pregnant, with baby, and women...

MRT priority seat - Sticker inside train cabin to remind giving up of seat to elderly.
This is also quite common in Singapore's MRT. Many commuters would fall asleep or pretend to do so. They do so as they think they deserve the seat for their long journey. Others would keep their earphones on. For my case, I would give up my seat immediately but they are kind enough to reject it because they are alighting a few stops away. I think one should give kindness to the elderly because some day other people will also pretend they are sleeping while you're desperately searching for a seat.

hi there :) i always ride on a MRT with my son and we're always go to the female/oldies/preggy/with kids train and i know there are some peeps who offered their seats to elderly especially those single women and afford to stand for long hours LOL (and i salute them- thanks to all of you ;)) but there's also peeps when my officemates told me that this one guy is sitting and she's preggy that time she's on the middle station and no seats available and ofcourse her tummy is quite obvious and having wore a preggy dress but the guy is pretending to be asleep and look to his left-right w/o passing his eyes on my officemate knowing that it's in-front of him- gggrr so bad! anyways, thanks!:) happy myLotting!;) Godabless!0=)

Actually it depends on the elderly, there are elder women (and women) would act like an amazon and would initiate the pushing and these kind of women I dread giving my seats up for them. I felt like they deserve to be treated the way they treated other passengers.

Hey there! Always. I always give my seat to elderly, children, and pregnant woman. But, sometimes I don't offer my seat to woman, specially if they are not disable or something and if I'm tired and my legs are sore. Have a nice day!

i have been to manila a few times and i have ridden the MRT a few times too and during rush hour I noticed that guys rarely offer sits to elderly or pregnant women but i also witnessed very rare indeed guys who do this. i as a lady I would offer my sit to elderly women or pregnant women or to elderly men, I would get the stare of men as I do this, hmmm, happens many times in standing buses that sometimes I am offered a sit. maybe the men were guilty that a woman beat them to it? LOL

I don't usually ride in the MRT but if I do, I will give my sit to an elderly person. Even if it is in a bus, I think I should because if I am that old just like them, I want the younger ones to give me a sit as well. It really pisses me off when I see guys comfortable sitting and in front of her is an old lady or a woman carrying her baby. I think the oldies deserve to sit and it just a way of respecting them. =)
