or is there just one person assigned to the task? i like variations in what i do inside the house, so me and my hubby had this agreement that we'd take turns in doing the dishes, just so one of us would not get so sick of doing it if only one does it. my husband does not like washing the dishes, and tries as much as he can to sneak outside whenever its his turn to wash them, but not one to be outwitted, i always make sure he does his share before he goes out . within your household, do you take turns in doing the dishes?

My roommate and I take turns washing the dishes. If I cook, he washes. If he cooks, I uhm...yeah. I wash. ;) Dishes, as well as any household chore are tough when it comes to rotations with people. Easiest way I found with a guy to get them to do more housework is pull up the studies regarding the ratio of men that do housework to men that receive marital relations on a regular basis. Sweden is the highest for men doing housework and the other. Odd how the two go hand in hand...LOL

interesting fact you got there. maybe i should bring that up with my husband too every time he refuses to do his turn i think the reason behind the correlation is that because men who do housework are more appreciated by their wives than men who don't take part in any house chore. you know how women show their appreciation to their husbands most of the time

Yes, in our house we siblings got a designated household chores, we take turns in doing it. The same way with washing dishes, we actually got a schedule in it. In the morning I'll wash dishes and for evenings my brother. In the weekend however, my sister wash dishes in the morning, I'm in the afternoon and my brother in the evening. Yeah, I don't like washing dishes as well, especially if the dishes are too many, kinda time consuming but because it's my turn to wash the dishes, I will do it.

We do have our fair share of chores at home. But back when my younger brothers were just YOUNG and with me being the eldest son, I was the dishwasher for the whole day--every after breakfast, lunch and dinner. Well now that they are in their college years, they wash the dishes after breakfast and lunch while I do the dishwashing after dinner.

I hate washing dishes, but when it's my turn I would put on my sour face and tell the people around me that I hate getting wet with those soiled dishes. It's ok and I believe it's part of growing up.
