Have you ever had a high heel shoe break in public?

I had a heel break off and shoot across the parking lot and scared me. I was in the grocery store parking lot. Has anyone else ever had this happen? I was lucky I could walk to the car and go home. Have you ever had this happen and had to spend the day without a shoe?

I had a really high stiletto heel get caught in an escalator and could not get it free. I got my foot out before my shoe got jammed at the top and stopped the whole escalator. I was very unpopular with all the people who had to walk. After about 30 minutes the maintenance people got my mangled shoe free and I had to go shoeless as I could not walk with only one very high heel shoe.

I hardly ever wear heels, and haven't gone through the pain of one breaking on me while I was out and about. I have had sandals that broke on me... that was a royal pain, that's for sure! But thankfully I was able to get other shoes on in a short time.

It would have happened at the busiest time at the grocery store. It is truly embarassing. People looking at you standing there uneven and watching you look everywhere trying to find your heel? omg lol

I have had a shoe strap break while at the grocery store. It was kind of funny. I could keep the shoe on by scrunching up my toes but I was dragging this strap behind the shoe. Once I got outside I just took the darn thing off and walked barefoot across the parking lot. It was much easier. It just so happened that there is a shoe store in the same strip mall as the grocery store so I just drove to the other end of the parking lot and went in and got me a new pair of shoes. How convenient!

You should have seen my hubby;s face when that heel shot across the cars in the parking lot. I said xxxx, lol and he said are you ok? It slamed my foot pretty good. lol Warning, heels breaking off and shooting at cars in the parking lot....lol

No, this has never happened to anyone that I know, but I guess it could be embarrassing and upsetting especially if you do not have a change of shoes. Can you image the person walking up and down? One shoe on with a heel and the other shoe broken.

Thats what I did for a lil while. I was afraid when it broke and shot off that it hit someones's car. LOL
