Me. I don't know. No one did taught me to paint. For me arts is something that can't be learned through others teachings. Yes, there are school that may teach you the physical aspect, the styles of the paintings, color mixing and the tools that you'll need in the process. I did learned arts through my self's careful observation of nature, studies, inspiration and dedication to make the world beautiful. How about you? Did you learned arts through the teachings of others? Did you learned from your school?

I took general photography classes and dabbled in other arts, like painting, but I really didn't learn to paint until I went to school. In fact, I didn't even start college in the art field. For me, schooling was important. I didn't know other artists. Majoring in fine arts, I was able to meet other like minded people. So, I learned techiniques that helped broaden my horizons, but also how other people see things. I was in an atmosphere where I was challenged. People learn and experience life in different ways.

Wow! That's great. Well, yes it's possible for us to learn in school since we may probably meet other who can share knowledge with us. It's just that I've learned it through myself alone without the support of even my parents. Thank you for your response and good luck to your career.

when i was in school, it was mandatory to take art class. i always found it fun. it was especially fun learning different types of art: paper mache, weaving, etc. as for actual painting, we did a bit of it in school. but that was using water colors or tempera paints. a couple of years ago, i wanted to learn how to paint with acrylics. i just took some instructional books out of the library, bought the supplies it recommended and did the lessons from the books. it is so much fun painting. i find it very relaxing as well.

i'm a self made artist. i learned the art through Walter foster books and hard work. Even my pen and ink technique was grasped through trial and error

Even I was a self made artist too, I never have a formal education about arts. I just learn it through observation of nature and of my crazy mind. The best way to learn arts is through self experience, since art is something which can't be taught.

When I was young my grandfather was always drawing and painting and I remeber rushing into his house to watch him and see his latest work. He really inspired me early on. I always remeber wanting to draw. My style is different from his, but his passion was definately my inspiration. I consider myself to be self taught.

how i learned to draw, i do not know exactly how. but i think i learned the art by observing an already drawn picture or a photograph and tried to imitate the same. The advantage was the strokes that were clumsy at first were smoothened out and the number of erasings decreased. Of course, in everything Practice makes perfection :)
