Have You Read "The Starbucks Experience"?

I read this recently and thought it was kind of interesting. Although, I think some of the stories in there were probably fake and it was pretty biased. But still, an interesting read and some insight into the company. Personally, I haven't had any extraordinary experiences at Starbucks. And I probably only go there 5 times a year or less. But still, it's a nice place.

There were a lot of stories about how people had cancer or other terminal illnesses and Starbucks workers brightened the last days of their lives. And then there were stories about how workers remembered people who only had been in once, even though they came in a month later. Some of it could possibly have been true but there were just so many live changing stories and I find it hard to believe that Starbucks can change a life.

Wow, well maybe more of it is true than I thought. The book definitely made it sound like a good place to work and made me want to work there. Not a lot of part time jobs offer health benefits and stuff like that. One of my friends works at 2 Starbucks (30 hours a week at each), so I guess she must like it because her parents are actually wealthy enough that she doesn't even need to work.

Well my manager was amazing - she was always doing stuff to help people in need through the store like book collections for children and even went over to America from the UK ot help when the 9/11 bomb attacks took place to help give out food and drinks from the Starbucks stores to people who were helping!! In fact her and her husband both went as they were both managers of starbucks for different stores so I can imagine some of the tales are very true if there are others like them two! As regards to customers we used to remember most people even those who did only ocme in once and I think the reason we did is that we had so many regular customers who we knew by name that when somebody who we didn't know came in it they stood out as a new customer so then we tended to recognise them the next time they visited!! I always think what such a good lace Starbucks was to work for and thats why so many of the staff go out of their way for people because it was generally a happy place to work!!

I have not read it yet, is it in the web or a book? I go maybe once per week sometimes or once per month at others. My only starbucks experience is actually drinking the coffee there

I read it on audio, but it is also a regular book as well. Not available on the web as far as I know, unless it's on Audible or something. You go a lot more often than I do. Now that they built one on campus where I go to school, I might start going a bit more. But so far, I've been trying to have enough money just to eat. And a Starbucks drink costs me about as much as a lunch, without enough calories to count for a lunch (although, it can come close).
