Bye-Bye, Michelle Bachmann!

I'm sure if you've been following politics either on TV or here in myLot you've probably heard of Minnesota Congresswoman Michelle Bachmann's very controversial statements on Hardball with Chris Matthews last Friday. Below is part of the interview which can be found here: http://hardblogger.msnbc.msn.com/archive/2008/10/20/1572959.aspx CHRIS MATTHEWS: So this is a character issue. You believe that Barack Obama may -- you're suspicious because of this relationship -- may have anti-American views. Otherwise, it's probably irrelevant to this discussion. REP. MICHELE BACHMANN, R-MINN.: Absolutely. I absolutely... MATTHEWS: Do you believe that... Barack Obama may have anti-American views? BACHMANN: Absolutely. I'm very concerned that he may have anti- American views. That's what the American people are concerned about. That's why they want to know what his answers are. That's why Joe the plumber has figured so highly in had the last few days... MATTHEWS: OK. I just want to get off this... BACHMANN: What I would say is that the news media should do a penetrating expose and take a look. I wish they would. I wish the American media would take a great look at the views of the people in Congress and find out, are they pro-America or anti-America? I think people would love to see an expose like that. The last I heard Bachmann's opponent had raised nearly $1,000,000 online in the few days following that appearance. NOW the RNC has pulled TV money from her race, pretty much sealing her fate. Her Congressional seat went from a "sure thing" for the GOP about two weeks ago, to "leaning Republican" to "Toss up" - it may well be "leaning Democrat" by now! What does Bachmann have to say for herself now? After hundreds of thousands of people heard her words live and probably MILLIONS heard it on tape she does what any good (Republican) politician would do - SHE BLAMES CHRIS MATTHEWS, of course! I'd really love it if someone from Minnesota, especially Bachmann's district, would weigh in here but I'd love to read what anyone thinks about this soon to be retired Congresswoman. Annie

I seen her trying to back step out of that one. I can't believe that she thought she could just say oh the liberal media twisted it. A child could have figured out that she was lying with the back step.

I didn't get to see Hardball Friday, but I watched it Monday when he replayed what the Congresswoman said. I can't believe she can blame Chris Matthews for what she said. He asked an question, and she answered it. Now she's losing supporters, so she's claiming she walked into a "trap".

Can you even believe she won reelection in spite of all this? The people of Minnesota are sure an unpredictable bunch! I mean, they send Al Franken to the Senate, they once elected a wrestler for Governor but they have a Representative like THIS whack-job...lol? Annie

This is just amazing. I've never seen a time when so many Republican politicians and pundants seem to be sticking their foots in their mouth on such a consistant basis. This is a dysfuctional party that refuses to accept responsibitity for any of their actions. The whole party needs a makeover starting from top to bottom. It's so sad to see them imploding right in front of the millions of Americans who are paying close attention to everything they say and do. I can't wait for the next foolish comment from someone in the GOP. LLoyd

I can't imagine what McCain and the hockey mom will say tomorrow. Their daily stump speach is as boring as all hell. While they look dysfuctional and erractic, Barack Obama is staying positive, cool, and calm. You know someone on the GOP will put their foot in their mouth tomorrow morning. I can't wait to see who's next. Lloyd

So she's concerned that Obama has friends who are anti-American. I think that's a fair concern. Chris Matthews was cutting her off and limiting her responses. Either way, it's nowhere near as bad as that moron Murtha who called his own state a bunch of racists and rednecks.

She wanted the media to do an investigation to see who in the Senate is un-American! We don't need another McCarthy.

Oh give me a freaking break. She said the media should do an expose. She didn't claim there should be a federal investigation. The media has done extensive investigations on everything Sarah Palin has done since birth. They've spent a week throughly investigating a f*cking plumber, with satellite vans parked on his front lawn, for asking a question about Obama's tax plan. I don't see you objecting to that and yet you think it would be a horrible thing if the media did an expose on a senator who holds meetings in the living room of a domestic terrorist. Ridiculous.

"Task: The media HAS delved into the relationship between Ayers and Obama. They've done so ever since his run for Illinois state senate." Really? How many media vans were parked on Ayers front lawn? How many interviewers accosted him going in and out of his house. Have they published Ayers tax records? Why hasn't the media reported that Obama endorsed Ayers' book? He's getting a free ride on the Ayers affiliation and you'd be blind not to see it.

That's all you have to say - "Looks like she told the truth"? So you agree that anyone who doesn't agree with you is anti-American and that the majority of the members of Congress should be investigated for being anti-American? I really don't know what to say except that if you think over half the people in America are against America I guess that makes YOU the one that's anti-American! Annie
