no, not to spend on yourself. to give out as charity. what institution would you give it to? i saw an episode of oprah: the big give (i dunno if it's a new episode or a rerun. i didn't bother to find out ), and i stopped to think to whom or what institution i will give it to. i finally settled on giving it to the U.N.'s World Food Fund. hunger is one of the basic societal problems that i want to help with in my own way. what about you? what institution would you give it to?

I would give it to FIND (Families of Victims of Involuntary Disappearance). Victims of involuntary disappearance dedicated their lives to social justice. In return, they are forcibly silenced and made to disappear. This leaves their families economically dislocated, since most of the time the victims are also the breadwinners. Yet the members of FIND refuse to be cowed and continue the struggle started by their missing kin, and are themselves defenders of human rights, yours and mine.

great answer, deserves a best response i feel for the families, too. my mom and dad being an activist in their younger years luckily retired from doing it before their fellow activists started disappearing a couple of years later. so i can relate to what you are saying

wow, so this is how it feels to get a best response. it's the first time i've gotten one, thanks for the milestone! hehe. you're lucky your parents didn't disappear...and we're lucky there are still people who are willing to risk being disappeared for us, even during these times when people say there's a growing culture of apathy.

Hey there! I would donate to several organizations like UNICEF, UN, Caritas, and donate it directly by my self to people who are sick in the hospitals. To help them with their medication. Specially to children. They haven't enjoyed life that much because of their illness. It's not their time to go yet. They have to pursue their dreams in life, their ambitions. And see how beautiful life is..

We have a couple of children at our school who are deathly allergic to peanuts, and my daughter-in=law is deathly allergic to celery and carrots. I would like to find a way so that people can eat ordinary food and not be allergic. I would want to donate the money to help find a cure for allergies.

Wow. how I like to have that. I don't think I will be giving away all the money to one or two institutions that are renowned. I might go searching for ones that are not known popularly and find people to give those money to. There are many people who want to help people in need and are not popular enough to get a large turnout of money in donations. And I don't think a millions bucks is honestly enough to satisfy my desire to give away in charity. I don't even think if any money will be possibly enough to be happy about.

yes, a million bucks will be like a pinch of sand on the vast beach for giving out to charity. and i like that you did not choose just any organization that is popular. less-known charitable institutions probably needs the money more than the popular ones. i am so itching to change my choice to something else because of you

If I had a million bucks, i wouldn't give it to any of the charitav\ble institution. I will put up my own charitable institution. Why would I give to charitable institution, they will just use it to pay the salary of its directors and people. I will help the people myself and i will monitor it myself. I will use it to send children to school.

If only I have that million bucks I wish to donate part of it to the building of a church in which my mom donated two acres of land for the building of the church. They are now looking for donation for the building of this church which will commence early next year. The new church will be named after my mother, St Catherine. The overall cost of this new church is RM$4 million. I feel if I donate to the church the money is for good cause.

I may give it to UNICEF or CRY. However I would prefer to help my close ones first. As I believe charity begins at home.

well, there are alot of charitable institutions here in the philippines. we used to take a tour in some when we were in grade school and in college. well, if given the chance to donate a million to one of those many organizations, i think i will give it to an orphanage because i think the children because i believe that they should be given a chance to live and experience life. they have no fault for being there. some irresponsible people left them there. i pity them because they still do not have a family that will care for them and some are still babies who are like angels. can't imagine why people have done that to them.

the next million (if i was given another million ) would go to a local orphanage too. what the orphans need is some sort of hope that maybe a million can give, to make them see that even though that's where they are right now, they can still make a better life for themselves. good answer

I would develop my own charity and keep the million. I don't want to entrust anything that I'm responsible for to someone else. What if I give this money to a charity that's just a scam or has a governing body that doesn't know how to manage money? At that point, I may as well have kept the money and squandered it away myself (it would definitely be more fun!). I would develop a charity for women and children (specifically battered women). I would provide shelter, training, job placement and counseling. I would also provide relocation if necessary. Some men are very posessive and my center may have to hide a few clients. Yep, that's what I'd do. I want to do this anyway but can't figure out how to get funding. If I did come across a million dollars that would be a godsend.

there's a whole new viewpoint. you see, i'm a lazy person, which is why i'd rather give it out to an organization for them to do what they have to do it with. but i like your idea. very inspiring!

If I will have a million bucks I will give out to charity and buy the things I really wanted and those things which I know will help me improve my life. I will also make some investment with a portion of that money.

If I had a million bucks? oh well, since my mom is good on organizing I would ask her to set up an organization, a non government organization and I would donate the 1 million bucks to her organization, oh well if she can't I will just give it people who loves organizing (and you know what I mean)

Hi kayedanda. if I had a million bucks, I would first pay off my mortgage and put some away for retirement. Then I would give some of it to my kids to help them get out of debt. Then I probably would give some to charities that help the homeless or sick. And, some of it would go to my church.

There's a lot of charity institution around us. We can gives to anyone of it as long as the contribution will go directly to those who need it. And not going to other's hand who wish to misuse it. It's good to donate it to U.N World Food Fund because I'm also agree with your reason that hunger is one of the societal problem. Let's build our world for a better place to live : )
