Where can I go to on the Internet, to find out if a company exists or not?

I have many companies that I want to look up.. I do know that I can go to the Better Business Bureau. But, what other places can I go to, to look up names of companies, to see if they ever exist or not. Plus, I want to find out if they are legit too. Thanks for all your suggestions!

The best thing is to search online in any search engine about each and every site. If you want to know whether the company exist or not, try to look into the address that they mentioned in maps. You can find the worlds biggest map service at here.

It was one of the wikipedia group and almost all addresses are avialable.

Use your search engine to find out whether the company has a separate website or not....if they have a website, there are so many ways to contact them, by email, phone number etc...
If you have their phone number, then its fine, you go ahead with the phone number...

There is one other place I would check. YellowPages.com They have all sorts of business listings. If you know the correct spelling or location it should be a snap!

Not sure if u found what u were looking for, but have u checked the Yahoo engine? There's also BadBusinessBureau.com, also do a credibility search for the companies and where ever there's a report on the companies the sites will come up where they're posted!
