Recently our dogs have started to run out of our yard. And go far on top of the hill to a neighbors yard, and have been chasing there cats. The neighbor has brought them down twice. So we have decided to get them electric collars to keep them in our yard. We have never used them before. So what are your feelings on using electric collars? Do you use them?

Nope never would use them sounds cruel to me! Perosnally id look at WHY they were running off and also HOW they were managing it not a change my dog could escape from our back garden IMO theres ways and means of making sure your dog should stay where it should be ok so it might take more work and a longer period of time for them to learn they shouldnt run off but surely thats kinder than putting something on that will shock them!

I think electric collars are just fine. It's not like you're able to keep your eye on them every second when they are outside. I think your neighbors would appreciate it as well.

Cruel and heartless is my opinion on those collars. Are they strictly outside dogs or are they allowed inside as well? IMO if you want to own dogs, then you should take the time to train them properly and give them a properly fenced in yard if you ever want to leave them outside without supervision. Dogs are very social animals and they belong inside the house with their people so I personally don't see the point in having a dog only to shut it outside alone for any reason. Of course it's more fun to chase cars than to be bored in a yard with nothing stimulating to do.

I don't really like the sound of it. Although it helps to "control" your dogs. But I guess it will hurt them as well? Perhaps there's better solution, fence up your yard higher?
