Pat Buchanan has posed an interesting question. What if SNL mocked Michelle Obama?

I'm actually surprised that they haven't spoofed her yet. They've done it to Obama and McCain...to Hillary...but I guess there's nothing that stands out about Michele that they can exaggerate in a comedy skit.

They should spoof Michelle and Cindy McCain both. Get them together for tea or something.

LOL! Actually, that would be a GREAT skit. You should check to see if SNL has a suggestion link on their website...maybe you'll get credit.

Here's the problem, where's the black comedienne that would play her? There isn't one. Lorne Michaels invited Maya Rudolph back to do it, much in the same way Tina Fey was invited to play Palin, but she refused. Their only other option is to ask Kenan to do it, and he'd make a terrible Michelle Obama. Nice try Pat Buchanan, but some of us still have observational skills.

I quit watching the show awhile ago. I usually catch the first 5 minutes and then watch something else. I got my information from an interview with one of SNL's production crew, they were asked why no Michelle Obama. It seems that with the likeness of Fey to Palin they felt the need to keep that going.

Since it is satire they could find plenty of people to portray her. It doesn't have to be a black comedienne, because it is not real.

Um... do you watch the show? Since when have they let the race of their actors limit who they can play? Daryl Hammond has played Jesse Jackson and do tell me, exactly how black is Fred Armisen, the guy who plays Obama? I'm not sure if you're just making excuses or if you really don't watch the show. If you don't, I understand why. SNL is pretty awful these days. My wife and I can't sit through more than five minutes of any skits that are not the political ones.

That is one brillant question. Seriously, I suspect SNL saw Palin had a sense of humor and is a happy person not prone to anger. Michelle, on the other hand...

I was thinking the same thing. If she doesn't want the attention they should stick with the ones who won't be offended.

Back in the days when we were not so up tight and could laugh at ourselves and thought comedy was funny and not vulgar there was a comedian who did make fun of the First Family and even the First Lady. When asked about it the First Family thought it was funny. For those who do not remember or were not around the comedian was Vaughn Meader and he poked fun at John and Jackie Kennedy. I am afraid that no one would try the same thing with the Obamas for fear of being called racist and hate mongers.

You have made a valid point. Somewhere along the way we have lost our "sense" of humor when comedians have found it necessary to insert vulgarity for humorous effect. A lot of it is just not funny. It's no wonder people do not want ot be portrayed in the negative fashion they treat a lot of topics with. Mabye Michelle is afraid of how they might portray her negatively in satire. You really cannot predict what SNL is going do.

Oh I would suppose that Obama would sue them, call them racists, for daring to insult his wife. After all, he and she can do no wrong.

Now Suspenseful, he didn't sue them when they spoofed him and they've done it a bunch of times. Have you seen their version of him? It's too funny! SNL isn't trying to be cruel...it's all in good fun...and everyone knows that.

Good question. I don't think we'll see it any time soon. Everyone is too afraid of being PC.

My gut feeling is that Michelle Obama is off-limits for spoofing.

Oh, come on kenzie, didn't you see them spoof Obama with the huge ears? SNL has been coming up with some great impersonations!

I'd agree if she was still staying home but she's been out campaigning so she's fair game. Did you check out the SNL website yet? Send them your idea so we'll all know someone famous...sorta.

I say she's fair game. Mocking politicians and their wives is a duty! Do you duty SNL.

I say so too. Michelle should be given equal time.
