Where do you go to buy your books and do you buy them new or used? I do both and I go allllll over the place. I sometimes get in the mood and go to Barnes n Nobles or others like it when I want to just veg. Not to often that that happens any more.

In the Philippines, there are a lot of bookstores to choose from. There's the ever reliable National Bookstore. For much sophisticated books, there's Fully Booked and Powerbooks. These two usually carry hard to find imported books. If I really like the book, I would always get the new one. I don't really mind if it's hard or soft bound as long as I get my own copy. If I just want to read, thenI wouldn't mind second hand books.

I get Amazon certificates from my onlien activities. I either get them there or I go to Costco, because books are inexpensive there. They are like half price.

If you mean books for school, I always get my books at the book store on campus of the university. Regular books that I read for pleasure, I get them from anywhere. Usually, Wal-mart is where I buy the books that I read for pleasure and not school.

I buy my books new and used. I rarely buy them from big named bookstores anymore. I used to all the time but I was spending so much money in books it was crazy. Now, I tend to buy my books from Amazon. I can get new books for so much cheaper than the bookstore sells them, even with shipping. Not to mention, I can buy used books for excellent prices. It saves me so much money, and in the end I can always sell my books on Amazon as well, that way I'm not really losing that much money.

Hi there CatEyes. I sometimes will visit the used book shops to look at what they have in them but in general i prefer to buy new books as i intend to keep them for all my life and maybe more (to pass them on to my kids).

I get my books used at the thrift shop. If it's my college books I haunt Amazon and Ebay for them (I can't afford to buy them new..last semester's books would have been over $500 for three books!) Our local Goodwill has an outlet store that has the books in barrels. I spend about 45 minutes going through the barrels finding books, but always find something that I would enjoy.

Aaaaah....books. If I purchased every book I saw at the bookstore that I wanted to buy, my house would collapse from the weight of all of them. I do buy a lot of books. I usually purchase them second hand at thrift stores, garage sales or from the discard shelf at the public library. I can usually find good paperbacks for about 50 cents each. However, every so often I like to treat myself to a brand new, never-before-read-by-anyone-else book. I do this if it is a book I have been waiting to read for some time, or if I want to treat myself. Here in Canada, the Chapters/Indigo stores are a great way to spend a few hours. Most locations also have a Starbucks, so of course I have to stop for coffee as well. I also frequent a couple of independently-owned stores in my city. Of course I can't keep all the books I buy or I would never have any room in my house. I often donate books back to thrift stores or pass them on to friends. I believe that books are meant to be shared and enjoyed!

My husband is member of online book collection for fantacy books and novels. Sometimes he can get the book for free. I do also buy books at the books store specially when they are on sale. I never tried to buy old books. My old books was given to me by my motherin-law which i got lots of them. Happy posting.
