Does anyone care to explain where income tax came from in the first place? Were you aware there was a time in this country when we had no income tax?

Good question. Income tax is based on income, whether its earned or inherited. Each tax is different and it doesn't ever favor the wealthy, that's why corporate taxes should be kept low so that those who generate wealth can spread it around. There wasn't any tax in the USA until 1861, what a fun time that was.
