Brothers share wife to secure family land. Amar and Kundan Singh Pundir are brothers who share a wife. The brothers have married the same woman to ensure their land isn't divided. Practice is illegal in India but common in their mountain village. They practice what is known as fraternal polyandry where the brothers of one family marry the same woman. Tradition and economics. I saw this on cnn.com. Can you imagine the marital arguments? From an intimate stand point, umm...eewww!

That is silly. I mean woman have enough problems as it is but to have to deal with two men..not going to be a happy blissful marriage that is for sure and when pregnancy comes how do they deal with that? They accept it as it is not really knowing who's the baby real father? I think that the land should be separated can you imagine the emotional turmoil a child is going to go through with this type of arrangement? What happens if they don't agree later on about things or how the land is run might separate then anyhow so I think it would have been best to have split the land just have it so one couldn't change things without the others signature or permission and vice versa.

Thanks for the best response I appreciate it alot..The land I live on is owned by my husband and his brother and thankfully neither has these views on settling the problem. Because I have to be honest their would be no way I would marry my brother in law..

Cool for her though! But imagine the kids... they'll be siblings and cousins, lol. How will they know which brother is their father? Will they just have 2 dads?

Just another way of proving how different other cultures can be from you own. That is not a situation I would want to be in.
