About a week ago I turned in an article on Associated Content on how to create a Christmas stocking for your family pet. I was turned down for upfront payment because they said it basically wasn't original enough. So you have to write something original that no one else has wrote about to get upfront payment. Am I correct? Also can you get upfront payment for short stories and poetry? Thanks guys!

i don't know but i joined that site two weeks ago and they wanted like 8 websites where you can get Christmas myspace layouts, they never approved it or payed me. i don't know much about that website. its kinda confusing to me and i pretty much just like forgot about it. but i might go check back later to see if they approved it.

They'll send you an e mail when your article is approved. You don't have to write just what they've got up on call. You can submit an article or prose or poetry of your choice.

I am not sure about upfront payment for short stories. I have written for AC off and on since July 2008. I think they have a lot of content since they have been in business for a while and they have a lot of writers. So, it can be difficult to write truly unique articles (as many topics are already covered with articles). I recommend first trying a search on the website to see if the topic you want to write on is already covered. Next, if it is, consider another variation. For example, your making a Christmas stocking for a family pet could turn into making a Christmas stocking for a family pet on a budget.
