Have you ever denied a friend request from other users here in myLot? I have never denied any friend request that I have recieved here in this site or even to other sites that I sign up. Even at the outside world of the internet, I have never say NO! to people who wants to be friend on me. So I'm wondering, is there any myLot users refuses a friend requests? In my opinion, even I know that particular user in person and his or her attitude was too abusing either outside or inside the world of internet, still I will accept. Who knows he or she might change while reading discussions that relates to his or her personalty and realizes his or her mistakes toward others. So for me everyone deserves a secon chance. How about you, have you denied one?

I have never denied a friend request on mylot. That doesn't mean that I wouldn't though. I guess it would depend on the type of discussions they start and respond to. If I don't think we'll be interested in each others discussions it would be a waste for both of us. But then again I'm a pretty open person as far as what I'll respond to.

As of this time, I accept every friend requests I have recieved. But if that friend post discussion that does'nt fit in my interests, I will not respond nor give comments or ratings, I just look for my other friend's discussion that suits my interst and spend my time to respond to their posts.

OMG yea..in the 2 yrs I've been here I have denied several friend requests actually....Partly because those ppl have nothing in common with me at all and partly because I find having too many friends on your list makes goign through the "friends started" section a pain in the rump..... I've also deleted ppl from my friends list as well..

We have the right to choose and the will to do things in every aspect of our lives, that's why I respect your point of view. Take Care...LOL I added you as a friend and I awill respect what action you may execute.

Omar0913 I used to accept all friends requests but now I am more selective. If a request comes from someone who has never contributed to one of my discussions, or I to theirs then I see very little reason to be friends. I am sorry if that upsets people but I have nearly 20 pages of friends and I now have to strike a balance. P1ke

Yes, I have. If someone's profile page is filled with "business opportunities" and nothing else, I am not interested. I like friends, not salespeople. Also if someone's discussion topics are generally obscene, Then I will also deny them as a friend here.

I denied one or two. I don't like friend requests that come from the blue, by people I don't even know or ever talked to. I'm not appreciative of people only adding me to expand their friends' list, I only accept those that I've talked to in discussions or so

I do agree with all your opinions, I as well add friends with purpose, that is to have more responses for a much longer discussion, not to say additional earnings, but to have a clearer point of view of different people. Ideas that not just me who will benefit but other users as well or even those who just search for related topics. I am fond of reading and writing, so even I have a hundred or more responses, I will read them all and make my comment one by one. Thanks...LOL

Here in this site, I never added a friend without a purpose, one of which is to have many responses in order for my discussion to have clear answers and opinions from users. I never add more friends only to earn more but I responsably search for their discussions and whenever I got something to say then I respond. But so far I've never denied any friend request yet. Thanks ...LOL

Nope neither do i. I got denied twice when I just started. Anyway, any person who comes into our lives, be the internet or the outside world, is a gift. We are different in some ways, and because of that individuality, we learn from each other. Thanks for the invite.

Thanks for the acceptance too. Sorry to hear that you have denied twice. Anyway I do agree on your opinion, friends are gift. I do'nt see no reason for anyone to denied your request, I find your response on this discussion a work of an intellegent person, or is it the reason why they denied you? Take care ...LOL

I have denied people. Especially if I think they may just want to be my friend to spam with with links to other online job offers. I'm here because I like talking to people, the money is just a nice plus. I also deny when they only post in "txt spk" because I feel that since this is supposed to be English and "txt" isn't I don't want them as friends. I also consider if they have any simular interests. If they only want to talk cricket, wrestling and soap operas then we have nothing in common. Now, I do have friends that talk about these things, but they also talk about other things, but if those are the types of things they have listed as interests ONLY, then I'm not going to bother. I also am wary of people who have been here quite a while and have low post numbers - I wonder WHY they are here if they've been here a year and only have 200 posts....

Just bugs me, so I've turned down some and deleted some. Most of the ones I've deleted have just gone away - and I wish they hadn't because I think they could be friends.

I have accepted all friend requests that I have received but there are several that I have deleted because they started spamming me with business opportunities and stuff that I really wasn't interested in. I try to give everyone the benefit of the doubt but when they start spamming me, I will delete them. I have too much to do with my time to be answering junk.

I never refuse a friend request for teh simple reason that if a person wants to include yo as a friend, he must have read your discussions or comments and woudl be reasonably impressed with what you write. If a person is impressed with you why deny him a friendship? However when I send a friend request, I am choosy. i first see a person's writing and assess it and then purt qa friend request.

Yes that's the point, unless you see that there is nothing wrong with having friends here, why not give them what they request. If they abuse you then simply delete them on your lists, if they still try to ruin your reputation here then report their abuse. Take Care..LOL

It's the same with me- i never deny a request here. I believe that it's the very least you can do. I mean, if you later find out that you don't like this person you can simply delete him from your friends list- there's nothing wrong with it. we should give chance to everyone. happy mylotting

Hello Omar, Yes, I have refused 'Friend' overatures here in MyLot, as well as in the real world. I have always been discriminating about accepting friends for two reasons: First, being someone's friend implies a certain level of responsibility. If I don't believe that I can fulfill that obligation, then I will abstain. For example: I typically post on average 2.7 or 2.8 responses per day on MyLot. That means that I cannot possibly visit with all of my friends here on a regular basis. I wish that I had all the time in the world to visit with the terrific people in this community. Alas, I don't. And second, I don't want to disappoint people. If I accept a friend request, I expect that that new friend expects me to contribute to his or her discussions. If I can't do that, they I believe that I have been terribly unfair to that person by having accepted their request to begin with. Although, I've only flat out refused a small number of requests. I've always found it to be rather an exercise in Zen: If someone sends me a pending friend request, I will generally neither accept nor decline. Instead, I will observe to see if I encounter that person in the course of my other activity on MyLot. If the universe brings our paths together, then I will typically go back and accept that person's request. If our paths do not cross, and especially if I have no recollection of ever interacting in the same discussion as that person, then I will simply continue to observe. Does that make sense?

Hi ladyluna, It make sense realy. In order for me to respond on my freind's discussions, I limit my post to only one per a day. That give me more time to scan other,s discussion and if it interest me I make a response. That way my friendship for them will not be a waste. I want to be responsible in everything that I do, specialy tomy friends here in this site..Thanks and take care..LOL

Now that really makes a lot of sense. I like your way of thinking. There's a thin line between real friendship and a cliche. In myLot of course, we have observed that is it a global thing. We expect to meet all sorts of people here. A matter of fact, you actually don't need to be a friend to submit responses. My take on this discussion is that, like what you said if we get more encounters in mylot that may precipitate some friendship or it just may remain as a casual "hi there" as in a cliche. But it's not too bad right. I believe that friendship holds a lot of responsibility. I think other members should know the difference between true friendship and a cliche. If that is what it should be defined here on this site. But if you ask me, to be my friend, I don't require you to go hunting down all my discussions so you could respond to it. It's like meeting lots of people in a huge university. If you happen to stumble upon my discussion that's the time you decide to stop by for a while if you're interested in the topic or you can move on to the next thing you can find. It's really no biggy. But I would love to have you as a friend so maybe one day I happen to stumble upon your discussions and pitch in. I think that's what mylot is all about. Cheers!

Yes, I have on numerous occassions denied a friend request here on mylot. When someone requests to be my friend I view their profile and some of their posted discussions and responses. If I see that they have many posted discussions or responses that break the rules of myLot then I won't accept their friendsship. The most frequent that I get are those that are posting referral links to other programs and such like that. I don't accept those friend request.

I turned one down about ten minutes ago. We had no interests in common, his profile page had a ton of links for money sites, and he has over 100 friends, so, as far as I'm concerned, he's just trying to get referrals. With that many "friends" there's no way he's going to read discussions or comments from all of them. I only accept friends if I know I'm interested in reading what they have to say.

Everyone I considered as a friend, but since my freind lists is getting higher, I have no time to respond to some other or new users, instead I respond to my friends discussion everytime I log on. Everyday my computer is open until 3:00 am, and I carefully scan all my friend's discussions and if I have something to add or say, I make a respond.

Your response in particular drives a real heavy but truthful point. Specially about having tons of friends. Years back I always wondered and tried to figure out these social network sites. In MyLot if you use your head, it's not rational to pile up a ton of friends and like you said how can it be possible for a member to accommodate all that pile of friends. I only have a few friends here and I can barely go through all of their discussions in a day. I hate it when I miss some friends discussions. Of course not all interests me, so I try to quickly scan through all discussions and see if there's something I can pitch in and share. Now let's see if my discussions strike your soft spot. If you add me I'd appreciate it. One more in my list shouldn't hurt. Hey I must be a sucker for friendship. Lol. Cheers!
