In the US it is affecting us small town and small business owners greatly. Those of us in the middle class (as always) suffer more when the economy is bad. The measures taken so far will only - as always - help the big businesses and rich as the rest of us continue to struggle. It will get worse before it, hopefully, gets better in my opinion.

hi juhi06 I think that soon it will improve and then we'will feel a bit better about things. right now its all over the place and we Americans are really worried. I dont know just what remedial measures should be taken, but forone thing we Americansshouldnot take out loans we cannot handle. wait until you can handleit , dont get caught, and lose your home. know your limits andstay within them.

We have been here before and know thta it takes much longer to recover then it does to go down hill. We are making sure tht the family all have a place to come to that can provide food and shelter.

I haven't been effected yet by this down turn in the economy. I didn't have anything in the stock market or any other investments. However this could change very quickly for all of us. The people here in the US are in a very dangerous situation. Very few produce anything they consume. If you can't go to the store and buy it then you just don't have it. This thing we are into now could easily reach a point where there is nothing to buy. If that should happen then God help us all. Food production as well as everything else will drop. The safest place to be is out in the country on a small piece of land where you can grow some of your own food. A big harden, a cow or a couple of goats, a dozen hens Eggs and meat and any other meat you can grow or kill. We have enough deer in this country you wouldn't have to worry about fresh meat. My family was effected very little by the last depression in the 30' for the simple reason we were already producing most of what we consumed. This wouldn't be the case now with most people. People my age and older have a big advantage over the younger people. We have already gone through hard times and we still remember exactly what we would need to do to get through hard times again. We are lucky in one way. There are still enough of us old coots around that could help others survive hard times. In 20 years this won't be the case so I am glad it is happening now instead of later. Our economy is designed to crash ever so often so this was going to happen no matter what anyone did. It would have already crashed but up to now the government has been able to prop the economy up from time to time but this will only work so long and then it will crash no matter what. All most of us can do now is hold on tight and try to ride it out.

I hate to say it when so many others are suffering from huge losses, but this economic downturn is being great for me. For one, my business helps people repair their credit, obtain loans, make money, etc. , so I'm doing great with that right now and only expect to do better down the road. Secondly, there has never been a better time to be starting out in the stock market. If you can live without your money for 5 years or so, buy now! There are some tremendous bargains to be had right now. The prices right now are about as low as they can get so get in now and cleanup down the road. There are some very safe buys to be made, just do your homework and get involved.
