Hi, fellow myloters. I have windows xp and high speed DSL internet and my computer is a year old and I have AVG the free version instead of Norton antivirus and for the most part my computer works well, but sometimes when I'm surfing the net this small screen appears that says your dial up connection can not connect and after that I'm immediately disconnected, it usually happens when I'm on a perticular site and I was wondering why this keeps happening.

Are you using dialup? Or, do you use a router? Sometimes you get these small boxes that pop up in relation to dialup, some are hidden viruses. It may be however that your dsl is very slow for that particular site! Has this happened with this one particular site or have there been others too? Andrew

Do you mind if I ask what kind of site it is? Some sites will try and hijack your Internet connection! What do I mean? When you visit a particular site, if it's malicious, then you are disconnected from your own Internet connection and you are reconnected using a premium number so you end up having a very large phone bill! You would be unaware of this though until you received the bill! I would just advise to give that site a miss! Good luck. Andrew

yes it might be that the website has a heavy content multimedia or graphics such as
flash banners which greatly affects your connection. but there might be some possible reasons. i would suggest that you check your cables or any loose connection from your modem to your pc. in some cases it may be caused by a virus, usually trojans. trojans can sometimes cause disconnections from the internet or in a local area network if you are connected to one. try to perform an online scanning for virus, adwares, spywares maybe. there are a lot of free anti virus online scanning which you may choose.
hope this helps.

If you are using dial-up and are trying to access a website that requires higher speed than dial-up provides, you could get disconnected. There are a lot of websites that don't work with dial-up.
