Do you always wash your hair everyday?

I've always make it a point that I wash my hair everyday. It keeps my hair feeling shiny and healthy. Also, I love washing my hair and make it soft and silky. I tend to always touch my hair every now and then. Weird, I know. So people, do you wash your hair everyday? They say that if you wash your hair everyday, you strip off hair's natural oils. But it seems to me that my hair gets very oily if I don't. Your thoughts?

Hello! I wash my hair about every other day 'cause my hair tends to be really dry (even w/ conditioner) if i do it everyday. My mom also told me the same things hampooing everyday strip off our natural oils. I think the best hair regimen really depends on what type of hair you have, if you have dry hair like mine then washing it daily won't work for you.

I agree. I believe I have oily hair so it's better for me to wash it everyday.

I always wash my hair but I seldom used shampoo, because my hair looks dry so I used conditioner. It makes my hair smooth and shinny and it brings out the natural oil of my hair. I always comb my hair too so I can massage the scalp.

It is also good to comb your hair using a wide tooth one before taking shower...

I also always comb my hair 100 times before going to bed. :) Right now it doesn't make sense since my hair is curly now. :P

At least once a day, I have been doing it for over 40 years with no ill effects on my or my hair. I go outside when it is cold, so that sometimes it actually freezes and I go outside in the sun with it wet as well, I very seldom even get the sniffles, a cold or the flu. Wet clean hair has had no bad side effects.

I go out with my hair wet, too, and nothing bad ever came of it. I used to have that hair-freezing thing happen all the time back in high school, when I didn't leave enough time to dry my hair completely. I don't know why some people still say that going out with wet hair, or even just being cold, will make you sick.

I wash my hair when i feel it needs it sometimes thats everyday if it gets wet and dirty during the day. Adults can get lice too they are less likely too though if they dont have contact with any children.

I see, thanks for the info! It's very important for the kids not to get lice since they are the easy target for it, especially that their "blood" is fresher than adults, or so they say. Mites feed on blood, right?

Yes you are right. My friends sister (27yrs) got hair lice from her Niece. She is the only adult I know, that has gotten it.

No, not everyday! Have you seen my hair! Take a look at my photo! I don't have much of it! I guess I tend to wash it every two to three days. I like the style that I have though as it is so manageable! I think that if you wash your hair too much, this can affect your hair over time. I think that two to three times per week is more than enough as regards keeping your hair clean. Andrew

I agree, I have to maintain a long hair since shorter hair doesn't suit me right. :) Guys can get away from it LOL.

Having a hair style that is managable, is a handy thing. Us girls get it tough.

I was my hair every other day, sometimes after 2 days. My hair is very dry and I need to avoid dryness. I was told by my hairdresser to wash my hair not more than 3 times a week.

I don't wash my hair everyday. I have dry, thin hair, so I wash every three days and give a deep conditioner once a week. When I was younger I did wash my hair daily. This procedure showed me that too much washing was not good for my hair. I don't color my hair. I do use a curling iron on my bangs a couple of times a week.

I wash my hair just twice a week and that is it. If I wash it any more than this it goes dry and frizzy. I have dyed my hair for years and so it has taken its toll on the health of my hair now, I can only use baby shampoo on it too and a mild conditioner and that keeps it shiny and in pretty good condition.

Thanks for the info! Baby shampoo + conditioner. :) Anyway, right now we have shampoos specifically made for treated hair. Does that work?

if i work out at the gym daily, i watch my hair every day. but if i am not working out a certain week, then i usually like to skip a day. everyone's hair is different. some people's hair tends to be more oily than others. i think my skin is normal/combo. it gets oily if i havent watched it for some reason in two days.

Hi friend,I wash my hair only twice a week. That is enough because when we wash everyday the hair becomes dry and the natural oil present in the scalp which helps the growth for a healthy hair would be washed away too.So I apply warm oil to my hair twice a week and massage the scalp and leave it for 1 to 2 hours and wash thoroughly. This washing twice a week is more than enough for a healthy hair.thanks for sharing.happy mylotting.

When I was younger, a teenager, I would wash my hair twice a day. I have four daughters now, and would be lucky to find time to wash it twice a week. I used to love my hair being shiny, clean and not out of place. Now it is like a dried up old birds nest. My daughter gets oily hair if she does not wash it every day. I have bought her expensive hair products, but by the end of the day it has lost its shine. I was a hairdresser and I always told people not to wash their hair everyday, but I think if you use the right products, (there is lots of good ones today) some replace the natural oils. So I think you are doing no harm.

i usally wash my hair every other day. when i had short hair, i wash it everyday. now that my hair is pretty long, it's not convenient to wash it everyday. it takes at least 15 min for my hair to dry using a industrial-strength fan. i will need to towel dry first, then use the fan to blow at my hair. also, i find that washing it everyday makes my hair very dry. maybe you want to consider the type of shampoo you are using? it seems that you have an oily scalp and oily hair. maybe by using shampoo meant for this will help with the problem. cheers

In the summer I wash my hair every other day and occasionally every day if I get really sweaty. In the winter, I will go every other day or sometimes 2 days between washing my hair. This is because my hair can get really dry when I wash it a lot...especially in winter when the air here is painfully dry.

Yeah, I used to live in Louisiana where it is hot and humid for most of the year and I used to bathe and wash my hair more often.

I understand in the winter the air is quite dry so it's better not to wash your hair everyday. Here in the Philippines it's quite humid so I tend to wash my hair everyday.

I think lice thrives in unclean hair also. It's getting lice is a matter of exposure to those who have it like sharing hair combs, brush...
