Hi great Mylot friends! I read a motivational quotes which states that "being happy is a decission". I meditate on that word and I realized it's true (somehow), only if one have a high self-esteem in order to make such a bold decission. Though the situation we find ourselves sometimes doesn't allow us to make bold step. If you decide to be happy, you will be happy. Do you believe that? What's your thought about this. Thanks for your response in advance.

Yes I believe so. No one can make you angry except yourself. It is all in the power of the mind. If we choose/decide to be happy, then no one can make you unhappy. It is a matter of self-discipline. It is hard to achieve but if we practice we will be who we want to be.

No one can get us humiliated without our permission. Self discipline plays a relevant role. Thanks for your response. Have a great day.

To some extent you are true. To be happy we need to decide to stop worrying first. Though we may not be happy all the time, deciding to be happy builds a positive atmosphere.

Interesting discussion question, thefuture! I think that, yes, being happy is a decision. I'm not sure, however, that it's a quick or simple decision for some people to make. I think that it might take some training for some people to learn how to be self-aware enough to actually make a decision about being happy - particularly if they have lived around negative influences for a while. I'll bet a lot of people reach adulthood, never having been taught that happiness is a decision, or how to determine what kinds of stresses belong in the external world and which are okay things to internalize. For those people, 'deciding upon happiness' and rejecting the effects of certain stresses but be a truly tough thing to do.

I think being happy truly is a decision for a lot of reasons. I could name a few: 1. Happiness should not be dependent on other people's happiness. You can be selfless at times but not to the point that you have to sacrifice even your own happiness just for others to be happy. That's what you call martyrdom. Although it is necessary but on a certain point it has to stop. 2. Only you can decide whether to be happy or not. The people around you can only influence you and help you decide on what mood you should be in at that particular moment; but generally, it is still you who decides whether to be happy or not. 3. The external forces, like problems are factors which may affect your view of the whole picture, again it's your choice. It's a decision how you would handle the situation. God Bless You!!!

Hi potrish78! The reasons you gave on deciding to be a happy person are trully accurate (in my own opinion). It's true "Our happiness should not depend on others happiness". We can't stop challenges from coming, but we can't control our state of mind. I learnt a lot from your response. Thanks so much. Your response is appreciated. God bless you too. Have a great day.

I agree with this saying, we can decide to be happy. Everyone can face difficult, and bad mood, we can't control bad things happen, but we can control our mind and attitude towards what happen on us. But it's not easy to control our mind and overcome negative thougts. So we need to learn to be happy. In this way, we can say happy is an ability. Only when people have the ability to be happy, they can choose to happy easily.

I strongly agree with the statement you made "Everyone can face difficulties, and bad mood, we can't control them, but we can control our minds" That's why you hear people asking questions like "why me" instead of accepting what have happened and face the future. Thanks so much for your response. Have a great day.
