Is It Right For A City To Ban Baggy Pants?

Police in Flint, Michigan are warning people to pull up their pants. The city is outlawing wearing pants that slip below the waistline. Anyone wearing pants or shorts that expose their rear end can be arrested for indecent exposure. Violators face a year in jail and a $500 fine. Should people wearing baggy pants be fined or face jail? Are police wasting their time?

I personally think that is a freakin waste of taxpayers money to enforce. Ok lets think about this... would they be fining females for having their boobs hanging out or for people in string bikinis for showing way too much? What is the problem with these people and their baggy pants? I don't know who those people think they are cause I'd rather see someones boxer shorts than a speedo at the beach. It's just another control issue. I personally think they should start focusing their attention on crimes being committed than the way someone is dressing. Walking down the street is a heck of alot different than walking into a catholic school and I think that they should have the freedom to wear what they want. It just seems so childish to me to be hounding people for the way they dress in public.

I agree 100% that I would not do it nor do I want to see it. My point is, how can they put a ban on baggy pants but not on some shirts that are worn, or some bathing suits that are worn. I think it's just the same to walk down the street with your stomach hanging out as wearing jeans like that. I don't understand why people want to wear cloths like that either but I do not see how they can set the guidelines for this without looking at outfits that are far worse only in another way. You know what I mean? It is rediculous to me to imagine police wasting everyones time in one town to measure a pair of pants. I think if they want to tackle this issue it would take far more than banning baggy pants.

No, I personally am quite liberal, but there are degrees of decency. Yeah, I might think I look hot when my thong shows out of my jeans, but I would not at all dispute a fine for decent exposure if I was caught doing so in public. Many times I have seen more than I asked for, simply because someone did not understand the concept of a belt. Children, should not be subjected to any potential exposure of genitals, as well as the rest of us. Now, baggy pants themselves, should not be illegal, but if you are showing undergarments or your behind, then yes, that is indecent exposure. If people would show more decency in their dress, we wouldn't have to make such ridiculous laws.
