I did not quite understand what Tony Stark/Ironman/Robert Downey, Jr. was doing in the movie the Incredible Hulk. Which came out first, Ironman or Hulk? Or is that a sign that Hulk and Ironman will someday team up in a movie? Or be nemesis? Help, please! :-)

Tony Stark also known as Iron Man, who is played by Robert Downey, Jr., is in the Incredible Hulk to ask Bruce Banner also known as the Incredible Hulk if he wants to join the Avengers.

I dont think i have seen the movies you mean if you mean the newest Incredible Hulk or Ironman movies, but it could be because both character are Marvel characters who have appeared together in the same Comic Books on a number of occasions. In the world of Marvel it seem each of the characters is supossed to exsist on the same universe. Perhaps this is represented in these films by them both appearing together?
