'Nothing is wrong in love and war'. Do you believe this saying? Is it appropriate in present day also?

I have heard it this way All's fair in love and war I do not believe in the saying but sometimes I have seen people use it, and is it appropiate in present day? No, because no one wants to lose either in love or war.

I agree no one wants defeat. But for this every action can't be said acceptable and fair.
