Do you like to share really good books you've read with your friends?

When I read a really good book that really touches me or entertains me or gives me some great insights or even better - all three! - I like sharing with my friends or with my family. I'm always curious about what others have on their bookshelves.
What about you? Do you feel compelled to do the same? There's a site my landlady's young daughter invited me to check out called goodreads. Its a networking site but you don't get any money out of it. What you get is some great recomendations/reviews for books - the ability to see what friends are currently reading, what's on their bookshelves and what they'd like to read. Check it out then come back here and tell me what your name over there is so I can see what's on your bookshelf!

I would if I had read a great book. I haven't read a good book in a long, long time. But I do recommend great movies I have seen.

I love movies. I'm only just starting to have the time and concentration for books.

Transdisc,
I also find myself drawn to the bookshelves of others, just to see what their tastes are. Especially newer friends or aquaintances. Tells me a bit about the person.
My husband can not understand my pride in the 3 bookshelves filled with books I have aquired over the years. He asks when I will get rid of them. I told him I would get rind of them when HE got rid of his collection of over 700 CDs. He saw my point, then.

We have three bookcases too filled with books acquired the last four or five years.. And will need another to really start on our two year olds collection.

I like telling others about books I really enjoy. I belong to several general interest forums like this one, where there are areas dedicated to the readers amoung us. Seems we are always posting about books we have read and enjoyed.
When I post a message about a good book, I will usually at least post a shot of the cover, and a brief synopsys from Amazon..just to give folks an idea of what they are looking for. I recently PM'd a friend on another board info about a specific book that I just knew she would like. She actually went out and bought a copy a few days later and said she loved it.
I have a friend who is a Dean Koontz fan, as I am, and we are often discussing his books, or books of a similar nature that either of us might like.
I will have to check out good reads some time. Sounds good.

I think that's a good thing. Its hard to reember the many books I've read in the past. I used to read a few a week, now with a toddler, lucky to finish a few a year - but its getting better!
I love Dean Koontz as well. He's dep, scary - and very funny. Many people who just see the surface of things look at me funny when I say he's funny, not getting the humour I see as readily apparent - and they look at me like I'm dumb or something! And say yeah, blood gore and fear - very funny - this from those who say they read his books.
