Obama supporter called. She said she was in Ohio and calling on the behalf of Barack Obama. I said I'm voting McCain. Then she said Okay thank you for your time and hung up. I must say I'm pleased with the manner of respect from the caller. My question, have you been called by a supporter on the behave of either candidate? Did you simply hang up without a word or did you ask questions? Was the person calling you respectful? Did you get in a heated argument? Love to hear your experience. P.S. Obama's campaign has been flooding my email with asking me to be one of his callers. Anyone else getting the emails from candidates asking you to call people on their behave. *Also not meant to be an ugly who's right or who's wrong discussion... just want to know what your experience has been with these election callers*

I have received calls and emails from the Obama campaign. It is said that he has one of the largest volunteer groups than ever before as you simply go to his website and pull a list of numbers from your area. So people that would not normally volunteer can do it from the comfort of their own homes.I have also received quite a few from local politicians. But I am curious since you mentioned that you pleased at the manner of respect, did you expect something different? Typically these calls are about numbers reaching out to people for basic support, not to plead a case for the candidate that they are volunteering for so I would not expect to have a heated arguement with anyone.

A friend of mine said they got a bad one, but I didn't want to put that in the discussion topic. Really it could happen on either side and when you think about how campaigns just give numbers to anyone for them to call on their behave without screening these people you don't know what they are like. Personally I would not feel right about calling people up about a candidate. It's just not something I could do, but if others wish to I hope they respect those who disagree with them but not always does this happen.

I just got another call from Ohio today... Got no idea what's going on here. I'm in New York...why would they worry about New York. Told the person that I'm getting a ton of emails I don't want and they are asking me to call for them too, and they are begging me for money and I'm sick of it and please do what they can to get me off the call list. She wasn't too bad either but was not at all shocked by my statement, think they are getting it a lot. I've been lucky so far but I wonder how many calls will I get now.

Yeah I guess there are idiots of all sorts out there, and unfortunately the candidate would have to take the rap for it. Everybody has the right to their opinion and we should be respectful of that even if its different than ours. I wish that would happen here on mylot too.

I haven't gotten any of these emails. Or phone calls from live people. Mine have been recordings. And on those I do hang up. My bad experience is with people coming to the door. One person even told me I wasn't registered to vote. (which I am). So now I just let my hubby deal.

To the door??? Wow I wouldn't want that. No recordings here but New York as I said is one of those solid Democrat voting states. The person who called me today for Obama told me I was a registered Democrat... I only just registered for this town two months ago and registered republican because I choose to vote that way, not thinking at the time I should have stuck to independent as I usually do. I don't vote according to party, I vote who I think can get the job done, but I wonder why this woman called and said I was a registered Democrat.

I do not know if we have received any phone calls from Obama or McCain, as I do not answer the phone. I have received a few mailers from McCain and enough from Obama to wall paper the entire living room. As for e-mail, I have received none from Obama. The e-mails I received from McCain, I asked for by contacting them.

Left and right we have had calls for McCain. I am voting for Obama, and here lately I have counted 300+ emails for McCain and Palin and not one for Obama. I only have three people on my email list so I am not getting this!! The telemarketers for the candidates are more polite than someone trying to sell me windows or take surveys for food products!

Sounds like you got the swing state blues, I don't get why you get all the emails from McCain though. I would have expected with my asking questions on the McCain site that I would have received emails from him too, but I don't. Maybe someone miss typed their email and it ended up being yours. It's strange how spam works. You don't know how these people get your email address anymore.

I've only received one robocall from Hillary Clinton and I missed it so she was on my voicemail. I'm glad you had a positive experience with the caller. I don't like pushy people...especially salespeople who ask if they can help you and, even though you tell them "no", they hover.

That's why I don't set foot in an Old Navy stores anymore. I get asked a ton of times can I help you because it's in their training they are suppose to approach and ask everyone who walk in. lol

I'm in Massachusetts - no one is bothering with us at all here except the locals. Missy, thanks for posting this. I'm glad to hear that your experience was not disrespectful. I haven't got any robocalls and the only campaign call I got was from my ex-husband who was on a phone bank campaigning against the repeal of our income tax. He didn't realize it was my number when he dialed it and we both had a good laugh.

I live in New York which always votes democrat. I actually would have expected to here from a McCain caller before ever an Obama one, but I guess he's covering all ground. Thanks for the cute story!

I'm in Illinois and I make calls on behalf of Obama from home, I signed up through his website months ago. I'm glad you had a good experience, that's how we are trained to behave. But it seems lately some of our volunteers are getting a little too pushy. I understand they act like this because they are passionate and it's a heated race, but it doesn't do our cause any good. Haven't recieved any robocalls, I guess since Obama pretty much has Illinois on lock McCain isn't bothering with us. I think he should've at least made an effort, right now we have a Democrat governor who I don't even think the Democrats want to be associated with. It could have opened a door for him.

They train you??? They seemed like they just wanted to give me a list of people to call for them. They keep sending the email for me to join them and I don't know why. What kind of training? Like do they make sure you know what Obama's policies are so you can answer questions?

I haven't received any calls, but then I don't answer calls that don't list on caller ID. I have received a lot of "unidentified" calls that I didn't answer but none left messages.

I don't have caller Id. I don't have a problem telling off people who call me that I don't want to call me and I'm very careful to only give out my number to those who I want to talk to and I'm unlisted. Don't blame you for not answering.
