War of Networks-a psychological manipulation: True or false?

I'm not on loyalty to any network, i just watch what i really want, but apparently situations get rough with regards to this. Many times i have seen or heard people arguing about TV shows. Just this morning One of my male co employee who is fanatical over GMA-7 shows is exchanging spicy words with a female co-employee who is loyal to the ABS-CBN network, two professionals fighting just to prove that their addiction to the soap operas of their choice is more worthviewing than the other. It doesnt make sense to me why they are so serious about it. I'm not agaisnt the broadcasting business, they entertain most people including myself, but i noticed the significant effect on the unity of the filipino people watching them.
