Many artists have covered this song but who wrote the song? It seems to be making a come back in many forms. Does anyone know anything about this old tune.?

Is this the one sung by UB40 with the reggae tempo? I like their version.

...yes, it is tho they didn't write it....it was written in the '60...writer from tin pan alley I believe....
