Are you comfortable talking in front of a crowd?

Just conducted a one-day seminar for high school students today. I was quite nervous at first but then I feel more confident after I warm up to them. I don't mind talking in front of people but that doesn't mean I don't get cold feet before I get started. It is a good opportunity to share what you know with people who are interested on what you have to say. Now .. singing is another story .. I wouldn't sing in front of a crowd even if they pay me .. haha

Being a future educator, We were trained to talk in front of a crowd and to develop the ability to be confident! I've always been a talkative person so I find it easier now to talk infront of a large crowd and stay confident. I was never shy..lol I usually do reporting and discuss important matters in our school and I am confident doing so.

When i was younger, i was never comfortable standing infront of a crowd. But as i got older and have been involved in our pastoral council, i slowly got the nerve to stand and speak before a crowd. My work sometimes requires me to speak before a crowd too, during public hearings and committee meetings. But there are times that my knees shake before i start to speak but when i get the hang of it, i get relaxed as i go on with whatever the topic is.

It takes a lot of skill, patience and nerves to be able to get up and stand in front of a crowd of people and talk! I admire you for being able to do it, a lot of it is confidence and overcoming your fear, a lot of people fear embarrassment, nerves overcome them or don't have the confidence in themselves and fear that they will forget what they have to say! I am more of a listener than a talker and I even found it hard when I had to talk in front of a class of 6 and 7 year olds, my legs turned to jelly and I always seem to shake, which I put down to nerves!

No, I absolutely hate it! I wouldn't feel comfortable about speaking in a crowd at all! I'm quiet natured and I like doing my own thing. I never get involved in things where I have to make a speech of somesort or talk about something in particular. The good thing is, everyone has the right to choose what they want to do. If you like speaking in crowds then so be it. That would be an absolute nightmare for me though! Good luck with your next speech! Andrew

I was not comfortable talking in front of a crowd, especially when I was still in school. I had this fear of facing a lot of people who would watch or listen to me in a certain program or any school activity. I thought I will be forever like that, but eventually, when I had my job, I was able to overcome it. At work, we had this usual general assembly among employees and I was assigned to sometimes give a small talk or even become the emcee. Then we also had a weekly and monthly meeting where we presented the performance of our respective departments where we I, along with my co-department heads get scrutinized by the top management. I think it made me become more comfortable. Maybe, some experiences in our lives help us overcome our weaknesses, we just don't notice it unless someone asks, like you. Thanks natsvelascotan! You made me realize that.
