Menstrual cycle after giving birth

Does anyone know how long it takes to resume your period after you give birth? I just had my second baby and i have not started yet. He is 2 1/2 months old. I am breastfeeding and i have heard that if you breastfeed your period will not resume until you stop breastfeeding. I have a 4 year old son but i dont remember when i started again with him. Also i only brestfed him for one month because he got really sick and i couldnt anymore.
