Wow! Some british scientist genetically engineered a tomato with some of the genes found in cancer-preventing dark berries kept some mice healthy for a longer period of time and prevented cancer. The scientists were all excited, but cautioned it was was too early to try human trials on ingredients in our diet as a means to cure diseases etc. http://www.reuters.com/article/healthNews/idUSTRE49P2K720081026?feedType=nl&feedName=ushealth1100

That would be neat. I won't hold my breath though.

Whatcha bet? Those tomatoes probably taste like broccoli which has already been shown to help prevent cancer!

only way to find out is run a clinic of people with cancer to see proper now it will take them 20 years for them to let these tomatoes go on the market if at all!

It might work and probably does if you live where they do not grow blueberries, raspberries or any dark fruit. The trouble is that they say prevent cancer. What happens if you already have it? I mean when are they going to have something that reversed cancer once you have it? That would be interesting.

Why can't we just eat the berries? Who knows what the genetically engineered stuff will do after awhile? Besides tomatoes give me gastric reflux and aggrivate my rosacea so have they found a way to cure a tomato of that?

I saw that story too. I think that if we can develop anything to help the human race survive longer, we should try it out.

Why not just eat the "dark berries"? I think all this genetic engineering is like playing in the sandbox to scientists. Fun, but not very practical in the long run.
