clean or cluttered?

Can somebody walk into your house and tell from what's lying around exactly what your hobbies are and what you like to do and so on? Or do you have it nice and neat and everything put away so nobody can tell? Me, I have way too many things and not enough places to put them, so I am a clutterer.

As soon as anyone walks into our house they'd definitely pick my hobby ... reading! There are books everywhere; can't miss them. I'm a tidy person, but it always amazes me when I see photographs of the house that it looks like a madwoman's breakfast! There's a LOT of stuff ... and even though it's all in its place and 'organised', to a stranger's eye it probably seems we live in a jumble sale. I just don't notice it!

My whole collection is upstairs so people won't catch on right away that I'm a reader (well except for a few in the bookcase in the family room), but they will see that there are children who drop things behind them like Hansel and Gretel's bread trail! The shedding the socks on the way to the sofa is particularly annoying...

It would be lovely to have an upstairs - full of bookcases! When I walk into other people's homes, I'm always amazed if they have no books. Surely that is only half a life? My bookcases are so full every now and then there's a loud thud as a chunk of them falls out and hits the floor. They are double-stacked, and very precarious. I keep putting off buying new bookcases because we're going to retire soon (and move), and I know I'm going to have to cull some things.

It totaly depends on which day you show up. If its a day when I am baking or a day when I have been in paint mode some of it may be out. I usualy have most everything in its place. The only exception to that, is weekends, if I am gone too much, or if I am sick

My hobbies all have to do with on the computer, with my camera or outside which I can no longer do. So, noone can what my hobbies are. They can guess. But won't be able to get them right. Heck, I odn't my husband even knows what my hobbies are.

Yes, he does have different hobbies. He also works full time and I don't. He is in a band and I am not. He enjoys alot of the men stuff that I don't. Such as football and basketball. but we do both enjoy wrestling, nascar and going to concerts together.

I have to say I too am a clutterer! More so than I even like to admit. I probably have some space to put things, but the time to do it is what has me kept as a clutterer~

Time is definitely a big issue. More junk comes in than I have time to process!

Dawn I am a clutterer. I'm not inside. I crave a nice, sterile, minimalist space. But I'm not ready for the morgue yet so home will have to do. As my former neighbour said "at least your house looks like somebody lives here." It is clean etc of course. But I could do with about four new bookcases. Trouble is I'd have to move the books to get them in!

I know what you mean. Heck my backlogged books alone require their own bookcase, double stacked!

Nice and neat, well not exactly. My house is very open, you see four rooms from the front door. All my stacks are nice and neat but they are all over the place. Avon stuff has taken over a whole room! Church books, folders, and papers in another stack of another room. Then hubby's stuff of course is everywhere. No neat stacks for him!

Not unless they walk into the kitchen on a day when I have been baking up a storm and have not gotten things cleaned up yet. I do not have any real hobbies except baking and candy making. I spend most of my time in the kitchen, but it all fits in the cabinet when I am done for the night.

I can't keep up with my own stuff much less everybody elses! Even when it's clean it's cluttered!
