I just posted a discussion about my new pasta cooker and the response sparked this idea... I don't think I could live without my new pasta cooker now that I have discovered how easy it is and how well it cooks the pasta and I really want to get a table mixer so...... what thing could you not live without in your kitchen?

To me I must have a knife, a cutting board, a multipurpose pan and a ladle. I also need my blender because it is very easy to blend onions using it, rather than chopping with knife. Furthermore it is time saving. I also have an electric rice cooker so that I can cook the rice without burning and it is really convenient. I also need my microwave oven because I can heat food early in the morning without any effort. It is as easy as "from the freezer, to the oven, to the table/lunch pack. Before I bought the microwave oven heating process is very tedious and tiring because there are many processes involved and many washing to do. Now there is no more washing.

I have been wanting a small microwave oven. I think it would be really useful but my husband doesn't think it is of necessity. I will show him your post of how handy it is and he may sway to the other side! Thank you for your response!

A knife and a chopping board. Oh and a silicon spatula. Very useful and versatile.

yes, I do need my spatula also. That is something I didn't have until recently and once I got it, I loved it. I don't use a cutting board alot though unless I'm chopping or cutting meat. Well, I don't cut up alot. But I do have a cutting board for the times I do need it. Thank you for responding!

I know this must sound silly but the one thing I could not live without is a little knife I have that i peel the vegetables with, I have had from when i first went out on my own, I just feel more comfortable using this little knife as I am a little scared about cutting myself with other sharp knives...

You know, I have a little chicago cutlery pearing knife that I prefer over any other. I have actually bought a fancy cutco pearing knife but compared to my other it is huge. I even lost it for a bit and was forced to adjust to the other one but as soon as I found it it was over for the cutco. I also have a great cutco slicing knife and it is amazing. Needs sharpening but it is still good.

i could never live without a rice cooker. i belong to a country where we eat rice 24/7. so my husband bought me a rice cooker just before we arrived here in US which i appreciate so much from him. a food thong would be the second choice as i love grill, and fried foods

I had always heard great things bout rice cookers that they were very versitle and could cook everything. I believe my microwave pasta cooker can steam as well, I don't think I could make rice in it but I could do about anything else. I don't know what a food thong is though. Thanks for responding! :-)
