See, I go trick or treating and I still do. Every year, I get at least one case of "scary candy." Since everything these days has to be double checked and nothing is safe anymore, my parents tell me not to eat candy that looks like it can be opened and closed again without the child knowing, because a bad person can poison the candy. I've gotten a pack of Nerds that were discolored and the package was ripped up, as though it was 10 years old, I've gotten at least some number of candies that looked as though they had been messed around with. In this town, I'm sure I have a lot of enemies, so it does not really surprise me! Weirdos! Do you ever get that?

Can you just imagine his greasy, grimy hands reaching into a dusty jar of M&M's and putting it in bags, then some fall on the floor, and he picks them up and puts it back in?

nice to know you don't approve of a festival honouring the ancestors, and hoping the harvest lasts the winter.

Many years ago when I was a young person going out on halloween an elderly lady gave us all apples with razor blades in them. We threw the apples at her house, not thinking that we should take them to our parents. This was at an early time when they statred warning of this happening.

Last year there was a scare in our town that the Dots candy had been tampered with. I made my children go threw their candy and throw away all of the Dots candy that they got. It is sad that there are so many weirdos out there.

I haven't been trick-or-treating in a long time but I still remember when I, just like you, received candy in a ziploc bag. But there were good times too, I remember going to this richer neighborhood and receiving a full size candy bar from just about every house.

Even though people are paranoid about poisoned candy, I haven't heard of anyone that's gotten any. Your old looking package was probably one salvaged from the back of a drawer when someone ran out of candy. The last time I trick or treated I was 42! I cheerfully give candy to adults and teens as well as kids and I have a can of dog biscuits for the 4-legged spooks.

no not really. I don't go trick or treating lol. um but for those that do, i suggest doing your trick or treating at retail stores like walmart. Yes they do pass out free candy, and other things. Its way safer than going to some strangers house.

Yes you do have to be careful. I hate buying candy that is out of date and all yuck. I think the shop owners should be fined for it. I think you will be ok trick or treating. Do be careful though and if it looks dodgy do not eat it.

My mom used to go through my candy every year. I wasn't allowed to eat any of it until she checked it. There are so many weird people out there nowadays...whats the point? Halloween is a holiday that kids go out and have fun. Why would anyone want to hurt a child? Doesn't make sense. Sickos...
