time you look in the newspaper, it seems like someone is arrested for drinking and driving. The numbers have gone down in some areas, but you would think by now people would stop driving after drinking entirely. This message and the arrests have gone on for decades. Almost everyone knows someone who was hurt by a drunk driver. And in NY State, my state, the government acts like it's a right instead of a priviledge so that no matter how many times a person looses his or her liscense, they give it back after completing classes or fulfilling some type of obligation. So has drinking and driving become less where you live? What are the penalties like? Can a person loose his or her liscense for good? Do they always give it back?

I don't think the stats have gone down where they should be with dui or dwi arrests in Missouri. I don't know the laws other than it's a night in jail until someone posts bail and then to court. Don't know anyone who has been picked up for this offense. When our kids go out, they always have a designated driver. This was taught to them several years ago when they were in high school. Sad it has to be something taught but they did learn. One bad decision can ruin so many lives in an instant. Makes me sick when I listen to the news and learn of the accidents on the highways where someone was driving the wrong way and it resulted in a headon collision and lives were lost.

It is sad that people loose their lives, sometimes I think it's sadder when they end up in a coma for years or paralyzed from below the eyes down or something like that. I don't think it's sad that anyone has to be taught. Just like fire, better to know not to get burned than to learn the other way. I would be very proud, if I had had children, that they never drank and drove. Esp. when you have kids that are there to rescue people during the aftermath. Thanks and take care.
